Achievements and Performance

SORP reference This has been another challenging year, working our way through the final covid restrictions and getting back to full orchestra rehearsals. But as usual we have risen to the challenges, securing our new rehearsal space at Tregolls School, purchasing our own Timps and putting on a lunchtime concert as part of the summer series at King

Charles the Martyr Falmouth, as well
as our Summer Concerto concert with
Madeleine Pickering in a new venue,
St John’s Hall, Penzance.
Because the orchestra had built
essential reserves before the
pandemic, it was able to keep
functioning throughout the previous
two years, other than during the
periods of lock-down. This did,
however, result in reduced operating
balances. As a result of the declining
impact of Covid by the end of 2021,
the orchestra has been able to start
rebuilding its operating reserves.
Despite vacancies in some sections,
the number of players has stabilised,
and there is a full programme of
concerts planned for the coming year.
With the other changes described
above, the financial position is
expected to improve fairly rapidly,
and we expect the year 2022-2023 to
end with Cornwall Concert Orchestra
in a financially strong position.
The size of the orchestra is gradually
increasing as it recovers from the
