West LorKlon Researth & Public Awareness Society is a charity committ8d to the educational support and promding free complementary education program>for people in Uxbridge area. We champion and serve the primary goal advancing the education of the public in the subjects of English Language. Life in the UK and several ethnic languages. We strongly believe that this will promote social friendships and strong interpersonal skills in the future. Only through good personal relationships thal requires good language skills, people can develop mental and moral capabilities to achieve their goals in life. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidancè issued by the Charity Commisslon on public benefit) The supplementsry educational support out of school hours which is provided by our community members and teachers on a voluntary basis act as crucial infomiation and advocacy points for adults as well as children in our region. The language courses we provide are designed to improve the level of English of those who struggle to communicate and educate. Our programs aim for raising aspirations and engagement that are essential components to remove the language barrier hence redung failures in the classroom or at VK)rk. West LorKlon Researth & Public Awareness Society provides a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are failing to develop the necessary communiGgtion skills because either they do not have advanced English language skills or understanding of the culture and soctal norms in the UK. West London Research & Public Awareness Society will focus primarily on young people with the aim of advancing community development through language and cultural education. CULTURAL ACTiwfiES: The community centre provides place for our prayers and worship and for th8 activities associated with our faith. During the year under vIeW, we offered and conducted a rang8 of religious and cultural services and activibes induding.. Festlvals: our centre prepares foc*J during holy m¢Mth for thos8 attending our activities and wish to break their fast together. Religious festivals i.e. Eid was also celebrated at our centre with a family day and ¢ommunal meal. EDUCATION I TRAINING ACTMfiES Our community centre hall and rooms provide a valuable educational and recreational resource to all in our l¢xal community. A wide range of activrties are organised and take place from our community centre. Turkish language ¢oursos: Turkish Consulate General in London appointed a Turkish language teacher to teach Turkish language and culture to pupils and adults at ¢)ur Community Cent. Supplementary school and homework support: at weekends and during school holidays a supeNised homework dub is supported and supervised by volunteers and over 35 children regularly attend the club. LEISURE AND SPORT ACTIVITIES People at every age group need leisure and sport activities to develop friendship and social skills that will improve their confidence in communicating to others. These extracurricular activities are essential part of the program to practice the language and communication skills young people d8velop al the dassrooms. Sports. along wtth enhancing health and fitness. would enable people especially young people to use all their senses and by choosing 5PQrts in their lives. young people can not only become physically stronger but also emotionally tougher. Our aim to: Raise the attainment of people, particularly th¢)se facing disadvantages Develop their essential skills Prepare young people the world of work and futher study We do this by follow1.. Summary of the main achievements of the charlty during the year Volunteers are an important resource in cornmunty work. This year our Charity has achieved to reach over 700 Turkish speaking people in Uxbridge and surrounding cities. This helped us increase our number of volunteers who then helped us organise and conduct more charitable and fund-raising activities*than last year.
