The organisation exists to act as a focus point for young people (aged 18-30) in the community of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, by providing support and assistance to individuals with learning difficulties, who want to lead independent lives and find access to employment, by improving employment skills, as well as personal development.
Objects: 1. To Act As A Resource For Young People Up To The Age Of 30 Living In Gateshead By Providing Advice And Assistance And Organising Programmes Of Physical, Educational And Other Activities As A Means Of: (a) Advancing In Life And Helping Young People Developing Their Skills, Capacities And Capabilities To Enable Them To Participate In Society As Independent, Mature And Responsible Individuals; (b) Advancing Education; (c) Relieving Unemployment; (d) Providing Recreational And Leisure Activity In The Interests Of Social Welfare For People In The Area Of Benefit Who Need By Reason Of Their Youth, Infirmity Or Disability, Poverty Or Social And Economic Circumstances With A View To Improving The Conditions Of Life Of Such Persons. 2. The Promotion Of Equality And Diversity For The Public Benefit By; (a) Advancing Education And Raising Awareness In Equality And Diversity; (b) Promoting Activities To Foster Understanding Between People From Diverse Backgrounds; (c) Conducting Or Commissioning Research On Equality And Diversity Issues And Publishing The Results To The Public; (d) Cultivating A Sentiment In Favour Of Equality And Diversity.
