Trustee Selection Method
There must be at least three charity trustees. If the number falls below this minimum, the remaining trustee or
trustees may act only to call a meeting of the charity trustees, or appoint a new charity trustee. The maximum
number of charity trustees is nine. The charity trustees may not appoint any charity trustee if as a result the
number of charity trustees would exceed the maximum. Apart from the first charity trustees (listed Table 1),
every trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In
selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills,
knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
Fundraising
Smile From Hatti maintains a website and uses social media to raise awareness of its activities. Periodic sports
days, sponsored runs and other events, cake sales and food festivals are held, and the charity provides t-shirts,
balloons and other merchandise in support of fundraising events. The website also promotes #Igavebloodhats, a
campaign which Hatti started to encourage the giving of blood. The impact of coVID-19 on our fundraising efforts
is reflected in the activity and event sponsorship for 2020/21
Beneficiaries
We have a relationship with charity Young Lives Vs Cancer (and are building out relationships with other
established charities aligned to our mission statement) who refer cancer patients from between the ages of 18 - 23

Reserves
Smile from Hatti has a reserve of £20k to ensure the stability of the mission, programs, employment, and ongoing
operations of the organisation. The reserve is intended to provide an internal source of funds for situations such

as a sudden increase in expenses, one-time unbudgeted expenses, unanticipated loss in funding, or uninsured
losses. The reserve may also be used for one-time, non-recurring expenses that will build long-term capacity, such
as staff development, research and development, or investment in infrastructure. Operating reserves are not
intended to replace a permanent loss of funds or eliminate an ongoing budget gap. It is the intention of Smile
from Hatti for reserves to be used and replenished within a reasonably short period of time. The reserve can only
be used after a vote has been cast by the Board of Trustees. The reserve is held in the Smile from Hatti bank
account.
