The charity intends to present public concerts and provide educational workshops. Delivery of ‘Island of the Self’ project in partnership with Spitalfields Music and Mindful Music London. - Workshops with 90 students across three primary schools in Tower Hamlets led by Engines Orchestra’s Raph Clarkson, with assistance from several Engines Orchestra string players. - Workshops introduced students to core mindfulness concepts and culminated in the creation of six original songs written by the students and arranged by Raph for an orchestral ensemble and young voices (the school students). The songs were showcased via a video/audio recording and Engines Orchestra presentation in all three schools. - The development of the ‘Mindfulness Corner’ on the Spitalfields Music website - an open-access resource to introduce young people to core mindfulness concepts, underscored by Raph Clarkson and Engines Orchestra. N.B. The initial project concept included a live performance with the 90 school children as part of the 2021 Spitalfields Music Festival. Plans were adapted due to COVID 19. |
