OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

YOSCLtdisanotforprofitcharitablecompany,establishedbyvolunteersfromYate&DistrictAthleticsclub,inordertosave the
facilitiesatYateOutdoorSportsComplexfromclosureafterthewithdrawaloffundingbySouthGloucestershireCouncil.During the
courseofthisyearthetrusteesweremadeupofvolunteersfromYateandDistrictAthleticsClub,SedgemoorTargetSprint Shooting,
Badminton and Pucklechurch Ladies Hockey Club and Yate United FC.
Thecomplexis operatedunderlicensefromYateTownCouncilwiththe specificaimofprovidingand enhancingfacilitiesto benefit all
members of the public.
The charity's objects ("objects") are specifically restricted to the following:
1 the primary object of the charity is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the
inhabitants of Yate and the surrounding area by the provision of facilities for playing athletics, hockey, football, and any
other sports, games or related activities.
2 the advancement of the physical education of young people not undergoing formal education;
3 to further or benefit the residents of Yate and the surrounding area without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or
of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and
other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare
for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents;
4 to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Yate and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or
other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or
disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social
welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants;
5 for the public benefit to promote the education (including social and physical training) of people in Yate in such ways as
the charity trustees think fit including by developing their mental, physical and moral capabilities through leisure time
activities;
6 to advance in life and relieve needs of young people of Yate and the surrounding area through:
(a) the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to
improvetheir conditions of life;
(b) providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in
society as mature and responsible individuals.
Providedat all times the primaryobjectof the charityis the promotionof communityparticipationin healthyrecreationfor the benefit
of the inhabitants of Yate and the surrounding area by the provision of facilities for playing sport.

Significant activities

The main activity for the charity is to provide sports and outdoor facilities to the general public in Yate and the surrounding area.

As noted above, the charity's main objective is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in and around Yate.
Wearepassionateaboutprovidingfacilitiestobenefitallmembersofthelocalcommunity,withregularusersranginginage from
toddlersto pensioners,the able-bodiedand disabled.Facilitiesare availablefor hire to individuals,groupsand businessesalike. Regular

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

Duringthis,thecharity'ssixthyearofoperation,thecharityhascontinuedtomaintainongoingprovisionofsportsfacilitiesforuse by
the general public, albeit within the constraints of an international pandemic.

This has included:

The year started with a return to lockdownon 5th November,with a brief liftingover the Christmasperiod then back to lockdown again
inJanuary.Thecontractedstaffremainedonfurlough,andthecomplexreliedheavilyonvolunteerstoensurethatthe regular
maintenancecontinuedincludingcleaningcommunitybuildings,mowinggrassandcuttingbackhedges,andmaintainingthe athletics
track and 3G Hockey pitch
TheComplexremainedopenduringtheweekforstaffandpupilsofSouthGloucestershireSport& Educationwhousedthe clubhouse
as a base forprovidingeducationalmentoringforstudentswithcomplexneedswhodo notcopewellin mainstreamschool. Brimsham
Green School continued to make use of the all-weather pitches for vulnerable children and the children of key workers.
TheTrusteeswererelievedtowelcomea returntonearnormalityfrom29thMarch,whentheComplexre-opened,albeitwithin strict
Covid-19guidelines.Thestaffwasexpandedtoincludeagroundman,whichhasgonesomewaytoreducingthevolunteer hours
required to sustain the Complex.
Football,Rugby,HockeyandAthleticsclubsreturnedtotrainingandcompetition.TheHockeyclubsatlastabletobenefitfrom their
newly laid All-Weather pitch.
NationalLeaguesreturnedtoAthletics.Becauseoftheinstrumentalworkcarriedoutbyvolunteersinconjunctionwith England
Athleticsin the previousseason,YOSC was one of a handful of Stadiumsopen across the region,and a record number of 19 events were
held at the Complex across the athletics season.
TheTrusteeshavebeendelightedtosupporttheintroductionofAdaptiveAthleticsbyYateandDistrictAthleticClub.Threesessions a
week,fundedby SportEnglandand YTCofferchildrenand adultswith a wide range of disabilitiesan opportunityto participatein Sport
adaptedtotheirability.ASection106Grantprovidednewfitnessequipmentandarangeofracingwheelchairs,framerunners and
seated throws.
OverthecourseoftheyearJulie-AnneParkerresignedasaTrusteeandDirector.TheTrusteeswouldliketothankJulie-Annefor her
helpandsupport.TheTrusteesweredelightedtowelcomeRossMichael,YateUnitedFootballClubtotheboardofDirectors and
Trustees.
Ithasbeenanotherchallengingyear,butthecharitywasfortunateinbeingabletofurloughstaffthroughtheGovernment's Job
RetentionSchemeandcalluponasmallarmyofdedicatedvolunteers.TheTrusteesendtheyearlookingforwardtoa2022 without
disruptionfromconstructionorpandemic,markedbytheformalhandoveroftheMulti-ActivityBuildingwhichisfinally reaching
completion which will extend the breadth of sports on offer at the Complex.

Atthebalancesheetdate,thecharityheldcurrentassets(freereserves)totalling£96,242(2020-£102,945)andtotalnetassets of
£107,256 (2020 - £114,813).

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Principal funding sources

ThemajorityofthecharitableincomehasoriginatedfromgroupsandinstructorsusingtheComplexforvarioussporting activities,
including hire by the local authority for school use.
The charityalsotypicallyreceivesrentalpaymentsfor use of the facilitiesby the YateOutdoorSportsComplex(Facilities Management)
Community Interest Company, a company controlled by a number of the trustees.
No rent was received during the financial year, due to renovation work being carried out at the premises.

Reserves policy

It is the trustees'policyto periodicallyreviewthe ReservesPolicyin lightofcurrentand futurecommitments,the matteris considered
as part of the trustees' meetings.
Given the impacts of covid-19, the trustees aim is to hold a higher value of reserves to help meet any short-term funding matters.
There are no restricted reserves at the balance sheet date.
Thecharityholdsunrestrictedreservesof£107,256(2020-£114,813)atthebalancesheetdate.Theseareusedasworkingcapital to
support the charitable activities, and are not deemed excessive by the trustees.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Governing document

The charityis controlledby its governingdocument,a deed of trust, and constitutesa limited company,limited by guarantee,as defined
by the Companies Act 2006.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

There must be a minimum of 2 trustees at any one time.
The trustees may appoint a person who is willing to act to be a trustee, by ordinary resolution.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 October 2021.

Responsibilities and basis of report

Asthecharity'strusteesoftheCompany(andalsoitsdirectorsforthepurposesofcompanylaw)youareresponsiblefor the
preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').
Havingsatisfiedmyselfthat the accountsof the Companyare not requiredto be auditedunder Part16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible
forindependentexamination,Ireportinrespectofmyexaminationofyourcharity'saccountsascarriedoutundersection145of the
CharitiesAct2011('the2011Act').IncarryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowedtheDirectionsgivenbytheCharity Commission
under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

I havecompletedmy examination.I confirmthatno mattershavecometo my attentionin connectionwiththe examinationgiving me
cause to believe:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompany,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,havebeenprepared in
accordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingbyCharities:StatementofRecommended Practice
applicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUK and
RepublicofIreland(FRS102)(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReporting Standard
applicablein the UK and Republicof Ireland'and the CompaniesAct 2006.The financialstatementshave been prepared under
the historical cost convention.

Income

All income is recognisedin the Statementof FinancialActivitiesonce the charityhas entitlementto the funds, it is probable that
the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Income from provision of the facilities is recognised on the date of the use of the facilities.
Donationsandgrantsentitlementisdeemedtobeattheearlierdateofwhenthefundsarereceived,orwhen formal
notification of the donation or grant is provided.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructiveobligationcommittingthecharityto that
expenditure,it is probablethat a transferof economicbenefitswill be requiredin settlementand the amountof the obligation
canbemeasuredreliably.Expenditureisaccountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadings that
aggregateallcostrelatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticularheadingstheyhave been

Tangible fixed assets

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.

Taxation

The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
