Having established Realbridge for three we¢kly sessio% following Covid and recrnited new members from different parts of the county, w¢ continv¢d to atty8d n¢w members from different artas. At th¢ beginning of the ye8r 9 members of the fornier Bthidge Club in Surrey elected to join the club and have played online regularly on a Tuesday nighL Thi3 brought our club membership to 95 and w&8 very welcome as the hybrid forniat on a Tuesday night meant that Realbrid8e numbers were oftcn low. As a rt maintain around 8-9 tables in the Ilybrid fom)aL Numbers at our W¢dncsday afternoon and Thursday cycning RealbTidge swions have iw) tmpmved by jotning forccs with oth¢r ¢lubs during the year. On 8 Wednesday afternoon w¢ run c(Mnbined sessions with North Crny Bridge Club and on a Thursday night wc hayc IKgun playtng with m¢mbers fmm Ailendale Bridge Club, where the standard of play is a little higher than at Retford. All these allianc&s have been achieved in a spirit of friendly cwratioll and appe8r to be working to the mutual benefit of all concerned. Sadly both were less well attended that we might have likeiL gnd the amount raised for Bassetlow Hospice was around £2 &8 (WMI to £4 in the recent Trophi¢s were awarded at the AGM in January as Retford Bridge Club 13 a keen of the EBUS attituth to g(x¥d bekniour brge tsbld. We rlow have a Safeguarding Officer (Steve Mulligan) to whom problems WKI Lx)ncaMs can be rqKYrted. We are very grateful to Steve for volunteering to tske this o We are also gr8tefvl to Sandy Fulton for wrtinuing his Onli t¢a¢hing 8wion4 tn 8Pit¢ of hi6 move away from Bassetlaw. His le&8ons facilitate the introdwtion of n¢w p)kntA8J memb5 this has been helped by the Wednesday afternoon Improvers session. The club did not enter a team for the Nottingh TeanL8 of EiKhi comtKtition this year. Many playa3 have expressed their di&qatisfaction with the choice of fornts, F2f or BBO, although onc or two tcains to play on Realbrid8e. The club feels that Realbrid8¢ is a far superior platfonn. but other clubs in Notts have largely not embraced it &s yet. Our views on the subject have been thartd with the NCBA, In spite of this it W&8 decided thai we should re-enter a team for 2023 and matches have to take place again. We had to drop to the Sewnd Division but hope to b¢ promoted in future.
