In planning our activities for the year we ke¢p in mind the Charity Commission's guidhnce on public benefrt at
The Club organizes two weekly evening se&8ions (Tuesday hybrid and Thursday R¢8lbridge). which are open
to players of all standards. It supports a q￿lifIed teacbeT and holds a weekly "Wednesday Afternoon Session
(Realbridge) for le&8 experienced players in particular. The aim is to encourdg4 teach and ¢nhanrx skills of
inexperien¢ed player5 and new member5 And to provide fillther training for expeTienced playa% all of which
will improve their conditi0rn8 of lif&
Members of the Club suppK)rt the Bassdknw Hospice by making donatAOn8 at one or moff annual fimdr&ising
cnts. Used playing card8 r¢8ularly donated to a can¢cr charity. With the advent of R¢4lbridg¢ th¢ ¢lub
has participated in online bridge events for other national charities such &8 Children in Neel with member3
ouraged to make online donations and table fees suspended forthe session(s) in qiiution.

league and some smaller teams of 4 in the Nottinghamshirc Cowity and English Bridge Union N&iohal
conipetitions.
CHIEvEME1￿ AND PERFORMANCE
The Club's eighth yc4r &5 a Registered Charity was a successfvl one ￿der the Cbaithip Df John Rolph with
istsnce from Sandy Fulton. who w&8 elected Vice Chair at the January 2024 AGM.
Having established Realbridge for three we¢kly sessio￿% following Covid and recrnited new members from
different parts of the county, w¢ continv¢d to atty8d n¢w members from different artas. At th¢ beginning of
the ye8r 9 members of the fornier Bthidge Club in Surrey elected to join the club and have played online
regularly on a Tuesday nighL Thi3 brought our club membership to 95 and w&8 very welcome as the hybrid
forniat on a Tuesday night meant that Realbrid8e numbers were oftcn low. As a r￿t ￿ maintain around
8-9 tables in the Ilybrid fom)aL
Numbers at our W¢dncsday afternoon and Thursday cycning RealbTidge swions have iw) tmpmved by
jotning forccs with oth¢r ¢lubs during the year. On 8 Wednesday afternoon w¢ run c(Mnbined sessions with
North Crny Bridge Club and on a Thursday night wc hayc IKgun playtng with m¢mbers fmm Ailendale
Bridge Club, where the standard of play is a little higher than at Retford. All these allianc&s have been
achieved in a spirit of friendly cwratioll and appe8r to be working to the mutual benefit of all concerned.

We continue to promote F2F Bridge wher¢ver Jle and have nm two Sutxtsy afternoon 50ciaI eventy the
rirst to aecoinniodate our AGM aiid the sewnd to raise fi￿dS for the local hospice ￿ in Previous years.
Sadly both were less well attended that we might have likeiL gnd the amount raised for Bassetlow Hospice
was around £2￿ &8 (WMI to £4￿ in the recent Trophi¢s were awarded at the AGM in January as
Retford Bridge Club 13 a keen of the EBUS attituth to g(x¥d bekniour br￿ge tsbld.
We rlow have a Safeguarding Officer (Steve Mulligan) to whom problems WKI Lx)ncaMs can be rqKYrted.

We are also gr8tefvl to Sandy Fulton for wrtinuing his Onli￿ t¢a¢hing 8wion4 tn 8Pit¢ of hi6 move away
from Bassetlaw. His le&8ons facilitate the introdwtion of n¢w p)kntA8J memb￿5 this has been helped
by the Wednesday afternoon Improvers session.
The club did not enter a team for the Nottingh￿ TeanL8 of EiKhi comtKtition this year. Many playa3
have expressed their di&qatisfaction with the choice of forn￿ts, F2f or BBO, although onc or two tcains
to play on Realbrid8e. The club feels that Realbrid8¢ is a far superior platfonn. but other clubs in Notts
have largely not embraced it &s yet. Our views on the subject have been thartd with the NCBA, In spite of
this it W&8 decided thai we should re-enter a team for 202￿3 and matches have to take place again. We
had to drop to the Sewnd Division but hope to b¢ promoted in future.

Club. Keith played regularly gt the club up to the Pandemic and was a valued team member in the

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Following registration as a Charity the club rec[ain￿d Gift aid M membership fees where possible. As a result of
reducing our membership fèes the amowil of Glyt Aid claimed h&s rcduced and will continue to do so as ive ty to
encourage people to play Bridge by keepin8 8ny Charges to a minimum.
Thé club h&s registered a suryilus of inconle ovet expen" dilltre. Details ate set out in the ALxouiits. This contiE]u¢s kn be
due to the wularity of the Realbrtdge s￿810￿8 and we have continued to keep our table fees in IKTrth forniats as low as
possible at £1.50, &8 well reducing our Membership fee from £20 ￿ £10. The Face to Fa¢e 8e&8ions at Hallcroft are
running on a break ￿¢￿ basis.

The Club usualty budgets for break-eyen figures for incomel¢xp¢nditure and this has been achieved with a
small surplus mainly as a result of our online artivities. Reserv￿ are sufficient to cover any costs of replacing

Membership Ftts And T*bk money
Our budgetlhg has beeh hel￿ by BL8setlaw District Council's declslon to allow us a Sensor Cltlzehs, rnte for
the hire of the Centre. This mak&s relatively small sessions still financially viable. In the light of our recent
small Surplus￿ we have lowered the ¢lwge for RealbrtdBC sessions to £1.20 from October 2024 and reduced
the annual subscription to £5. Our fee8 Gompllre very favourabty with those of oth&Y elubs 8nd provid¢ good
value for money for our m¢mbcrs.
We offered two frce aftErnoons of 8ociaI bridge during thc year (See aknve) and this was greatly appreciated.
We are committed to ￿ill8 swplus funds to promo* Bridge pl&yin8 locally whenever we catt.
