London Children's Ballet Report of the Trustees Continued For the year ended 31 July 2024 ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Significant activities Annual Ballet Production Auditions took place in October and November 2023 and attrdcted 600 dancers. There were less vocational students invdved this y8ar as the show moved back io a July w88k at thè Peacock Theatre. The 2024 the LCB production of The Secret Garden took place In July 2024. The production was a complet8 revival of Erico Montes, The Secret Garden. originally perftsrmed in 2013. The rehearsal team was led by Gemma Pitchley-Gale who was the original rehea￿81 director on the 2013 production. Jenna Lee oversaw the production as Ruth 8rill was oyt maternity 188v8. Costumes were laryely sourced from existing LCB sto¢k. Thè rèvival set and costume design w85 18d by Carrie-Anne Siein. The core pieces of the set have been made to be used in future production as they can be stored in Dorset. The commercial shows at Tha Pèacock Theatre sold well and attract8d a young family audience. Th8 Ballet for a £ charities and schools. perfomiance were completely sold out11,800 audience m8mbersl. LCB Touring Companie The 4 touring compani89 completed tours lo care homes and SEND sch(x)Is in September. February and the final 2 tours took place in May. Each lour visit8d a total of 10 venues. Feedback fron both the dancers involved and the venues was universally positive. LCB Training The 5LJmmer school, lead by Fiona Chadwick proved popular professionals trom rllusic theatre to classical ballet. a total 0¢ 36 children attended. Sessions wère led by industry In January 2024, Gemma Pitchley-Gale ran the post-Audition Masterclass. Aimed at children who dony rn8ke it through to the corrpany. this M8St8rc18ss foojses on improving perforrnan¢8 in an 8udits.on specific setting. LC8 Developrnent Programme The Development Programme lead by Sabina Cox Igidsl and Jarnes Butcher (boy51 proved popular and beneficial. 10 girf 10 boys trtok part in this tre8 Saturday programme supported by Big Yellow S8K Storage Company. Ballet for a £ The Ballet for 8 £ workshops took place between May and June 2024. Th8 t8am Including a pianist - visited 40 pnmary 5thools delivering a 2.5 hr workshop5 tn each one. The rnonitoring forms received back gav8 a clear Indication that these workshops were both effective and enjoyable. As part of the soci81 agreement with Wandsworth Council. LC8 delivered outreach prograrnmes in schools and other org8nisations within the borough and specifically in the a￿a rnost local to th8 sludio which Is about to embafk on a signifiGgnt process of regenerali¢x. Specifically, the learn visited 5 schools in the LBC of Wandswcirth whom LC8 has started to work particu18rly ¢105ely with since taking up cultural anchor tenancy In Wandswoth. Wandsworth Art$ Fringe LC8 worked with three schools in the Borough to create piece5 for the Wandsworth Dance Showcase which w85 p8rformed at Wandsworth Town Hall on Wednesday 13th June. The schools and children involved all enjoyed the experience and are keen to b8 involved again in 2025. LCB also Invited audiences to watch a perforrn8nc8 of the Touring Company in the LC8 slLJdiog. Ev•nt No 5Ignificant fundraising evenl was h8ld in 202312024. There is an event planned for Novernber 2024 to be held at the Nation81 Theatre- 8uffini Chao Deck.
