SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 This year the staff and committee have
risen to the challenge of rising costs again
this year.
Admissions:
September 2023 opened with 16 children
on the register, 2 of those were under 3.
Year ended with 28 children attending, with
4 under 3.
Children:
The year started off very quiet and we
started with the theme favourite stories we
explored Handa’s surprise, 3 little pigs, the
grumpalump, billy goats gruff and the
runaway pea, the children mashed peas at
the sensory table, made a lovely Handa’s
surprise wall board and used props to act
out the 3 little pigs and billy goats gruff, we
looked at the changes that Autumn brings
and the children explored sweetcorn plants
and used the special apple peeler to
prepare apples for snack .
Halloween was soon upon us and the
children carved pumpkins sang spooky
songs and the home corner was converted
into a spooky house.
After half term we celebrated bonfire night,
this is the time of year when the glitter
appears and doesn’t really go away until
after Christmas. We made a wreath of

remembrance and took it to the War memorial to remember the fallen and made lovely poppy pictures. Christmas was soon upon us we had been practising our Nativity songs since November and our Nativity play was another tearjerker. Everyone did so well and sang beautifully. After the Christmas break, we explored the Artic and Antarctic, we made penguin and polar bear pictures and played with ice, we also explored the world map to see where Antarctica and The Artic are. February was here we celebrated Chinese New Year, the children made stir fry for snack, ate with chopsticks and we did some Dragon dancing. After half term we talked about feelings and emotions and introduced the feelings board at registration, the children really got to grips with this and it’s still in place now. We celebrated Valentine’s Day by making beautiful cards and hats and we joined William Westley Whittlesford for the annual Pancake Day race and enjoyed pancakes for lunch. March arrived and we prepared the garden ready for planting our crop of potatoes and our theme was New Life and Growing. Mother’s Day arrived the children were very proud of their daffodil that they had planted from a bulb in the Autumn. Easter then arrived and the children decorated some Easter Baskets, used marbling ink to decorate egg shapes and we had easter egg hunt in the Whitsers garden. We had a visit to the church to learn the Easter story and Olivia always spoils us with a fantastic art activity, and a delicious snack. After Easter we celebrated the Kings Coronation, we made crowns, we had a coronation ceremony with archbishop Sara, we all dressed up with hats, smart princess dresses and superhero costumes. We made a card which we sent to Buckingham palace and got a letter from the King thanking us. We did portraits of the king and had afternoon tea for snack. The final half term arrived, and we made full use of our Garden even when we had torrential downpours the children enjoyed putting on all in one suit and splashing in the puddles, catching rain water in their mouths and laying on their backs making rain angels. We had lots of visits from WW to help our preschoolers with transition and we went to school to have a lunch. Term was ending, we enjoyed a trip to Shepreth Wildlife Park, Sports day and our

end of year party where MR MARVEL entertained the children with puppet show, magic and a disco with a foam machine. Fundraising: Fundraising events included two hampers, one for Christmas and one for Easter, scavenger hunt, carol singing, Nativity play, Halloween party and curry night. Overall, this year we raised £2,039.40.
