5. Accounts

To receive and consider the report of the Trustees and financial statements for the period ended 31[st] March 2023. Received, considered. NB to date Triodos Savings £15,343.44 & Current £5,191.49

6. Auditors

To re-confirm Patrick Clackett as auditor/accountant of the CIO and to authorise the Trustees to fix the remuneration. Discuss and agree Audit for transparency even if below level required by Charity Commission.

Objectives and Activities

Summary of purpose

The principal purpose of the charitable company, as set out in its memorandum and articles of association, is to provide veterinary and animal welfare assistance to poorer communities and to provide management and technical support to animal health and welfare practitioners, from community to professional level, via training, education and publications

Summary of main activities

From April 2022 to March 2023, Vetwork UK has focused primarily on ‘technical support to animal health and welfare practitioners, from community to professional level, via training, education and publications’ in relation to One Welfare, and veterinary aspects of global biodiversity loss and climate change.

It has done this through the following activities:

  1. Developed a Carbon (and Biodiversity) Literacy Course for the Veterinary Community (CLiVe)

  2. Successfully submitted CLiVe to the Carbon Literacy Project for accreditation, and

  3. Piloted CLiVe in December 2022 with 17 participants, 14 of whom applied for CLP certificates of Carbon Literacy, all successfully.

  4. In early 2023 started to engage with the new Veterinary School of the University of Central Lancashire to deliver Carbon Literacy Training to all students.

  5. In early 2023 started to engage with the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group and Sidmouth vets to help make Sidmouth a more biodiverse town.

  6. Engaging internationally around One Welfare eg with veterinary colleagues, UN IYRP (International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralism 2026, and UN IPBES (Inter-governmental Panel on Biodiversity and Environmental Services).

  7. Alex Briault published three articles:’ We Need to Talk About Energy’ Vet Times, May 2022; ‘Thinking Inside the Box’ VT Sept 2022; ‘My View: Personal Energy Quota’ Vet Record, Dec 2022.

Vetwork UK provides a public benefit, primarily through education for a One Welfare world in which the health and welfare of people, other animals, and the rest of the ecosphere are looked at collectively for the good of all.
