Charirfs activities and achieveffl¢nts in r¢laticm to its objectives in th¢ y¢or. At the start of the new f inancial year the pre-school fees remained unchanged for the autumn term. In the spring term the rate char9ed for a 2 year old was increased by 15% to £9 per hour. In the summer tenn the set fee per session Trncred by 2870 to £8.35 for a f ull day and by 43% to £6.15 for a morning session. The summer term increases were introduced as a consequence of the tIonal Minimum Wje increose. The roll out of the 6overnment initiative for workiThJ parents meont that the pre-school was able to claim f undir#J in the term children turned two. This hadn't pr¢viousty* been avoiloble. The pre-school h+ts continued to monitor spendiry carefully. The pre-xhool's fundraisirg income was higher t that of the prior year. In total £3.813 (2024: £2.257) was raised. Activities included a sponsored octivity. open 9arden event. wly new sale. penny jar, Ewhurst carnival, sports day, quiz ni9ht and fundraisiThJ at the Thltivity perfOnnae. There was o def icit of income over expenditure of £4,948 durir¥J the yeor (2024; def icit £4.478). Expenditure, includiNJ restricted funds. was Il% hi9her than the prior year £172.079 (2024: £155.441). Staff costs. the largest exp¢e. rose by 13% (£16,638) ct)mpared to the prior year. In times where the nber of children is low. we are in potential danger of our costs exceedirg our income. To be able to deal with periods of low child numbers. the trustees have a policy of retainirrfj a reserve of approximately one term's expenditure. Due to staf f costs increosiThJ the reserve hos been increased from £24.IXX) to £30.213 and we consider this to be adequate. This tynount will be reviewed on <m +2nnual basis.
