Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	For the public beneft to advance educaton in the feld of Art History, in partcular but not exclusively by providing training, support, curricula and materials to those teaching in schools, colleges and other educatonal insttutons.

Para 1.17 and 1.19	In planning our actvites for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public beneft at our trustee meetngs. We contnue to regularly update our open- access website to beneft the public through the latest up to date knowledge and informaton on Art History in schools, from primary level up to A-level in Art History for Sixth Form students. We also contnue our up- to-date programme of teacher training and support sessions, and an ever-growing range of resource materials for teaching Art History in schools, including materials specifcally designed for A-level on art from outside of European traditons. AHiS has contnued to work closely with Pearson to provide teacher-training opportunites throughout the year, and resources that Pearson were not able to provide to school teachers. We have been supported in the provision of CPD by school teachers and academics, and in the provision of resources by school teachers, academics, and the educaton departments of natonwide museums and galleries thus sharing expertse and experience with the wider public and expandingan understandingof Art History.

Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	Due to Covid 19 not all of our regular range of actvites and events were able to take place. Though teachers have contnued to volunteer writng resources and hostng events with us. Our bursary scheme for Year 12 students taking the NEC A Level course was postponed. Our joint project on ‘Seeing Britain’ with smarthistory.org was also suspended as they could not fy to the UK.

Para 1.20		Regular Events We maintained our staff, working partnerships, and regular annual training events and conferences even though these had to take place online/over zoom rather than face-to-face: 17 March – online marking training for ex- Pre-U teachers and others; 30 June – annual Art History and Art & Design Higher Education Conference online, for the first time in conjunction with South London Gallery’s Art Assassins Team; 17 November – online teachers’ CPD in conjunction with the Association for Art History. NEC Online A-Level Art History Our first cohort of NEC online A-Level students tutored by AHiS teachers and trustees completed the course and were given their TAGs. All students achieved at least a Grade B, with 31% A* and 56% A - well above the national average. We met our target of expanding the subject outside the south of England as after London, the largest cohorts came from Yorkshire and Lancashire. On 20thNovember we ran a face-to-face session for NEC students at the National Gallery as part of the AAH’s Ways of Seeing Conference. As none of our three fast-track Art-teacher bursary students managed to complete the course, we sponsored a trainee teacher for the examination fees.
