Section C Objectives and activities

The objects are to relieve persons in West Lancashire and the surrounding area that are in financial hardship as a means of reducing poverty, in such ways as the trustees from time to time think fit, in particular, but not exclusively by providing individuals and families with:

• Clothing and warm bedding (2 out of 4 centres)

Skelmersdale and District Foodbank

1. Run a central warehouse facility which stores and distributes food donated to the charity, to our numerous outlets around west Lancashire, supporting persons/families identified as being in need of emergency food supplies.

2. Supply emergency food between Monday and Friday at our various sites in West Lancashire.

3. People in need are identified and referred to the foodbank from various agencies in West Lancashire e.g. Citizens Advice, Financial Inclusion, local schools, GPs, NHS workers, Job Centre etc.

4. We provide financial assistance to support people facing fuel poverty and work in partnership with the Fuel Bank Federation to support clients using pre-payment metres.

5. We work in partnership with CHARIS Shop to offer fuel support via virtual fuel credit cards £70. Also provision of food vouchers Farm food, Iceland, Aldi etc; electric blankets, air fryers etc.

6. Work in partnership with Compassion Acts and other agencies to provide our clients with wider/long term support with the aim of successfully ensuring financial independence.

1. Successfully apply for grants to support our objects.

2. Carry out fundraising events to support the ongoing of the charity. 9. Provide clothes banks on two of our sites.

3. Provide baby equipment and have close links to local baby bank for clients needing support with new born, pregnancy.

4. Provide quality pet food in partners with Blue Cross – recognising the importance of pets to clients well-being.

5. Maintain, review and work within a 3 year strategic plan. 13. Next steps to produce a Pantry for clients.

All of the above is conducted having giving consideration to of the Charities Act.

Skelmersdale and District Food Bank employ 3 paid, part-time, members of staff, who are all suitably trained to meet the needs of their individual job specifications. Skelmersdale and District Food Bank have 87 skilled volunteers who are suitably trained to fulfil their individual roles and responsibilities. The charity relies heavily on the work of its dedicated volunteers and staff and trustees. All volunteers are skill

		Data shows a significant (approximately 100%) increase in support provided by the charity to those facing financial and fuel poverty since 2021/2022 Securing funding from West Lancs. Borough Council and other agencies, enabling us to meet demand. Recruitment of skilled and dedicated volunteers to meet demand in warehouse etc. Successful partnership with agencies specifically Compassion Acts working with foodbank clients (FI funded via TT) has already gained £110.000 plus in unclaimed benefits for clients, reducing the number of long term clients. Fuel support offers emergency and long term solutions taking clients out of fuel crisis. Provision of fresh produce, including fruit, veg, meat vouchers, supplements the food parcels providing clients with a healthier diet. Support from CHARIS Shop enables us to provide clients with food vouchers, giving dignity of choice and enabling all dietary requirements to be met. Successful 3 Year Plan – trustees are dedicated and proactive.
