Foundation for Refugee Economic Empowerment (FREE) continues to fulfil its charitable role of supporting people in need. Our focus has been the internally displaced in north eastern Nigeria. We continue to explore mutually beneficial collaborations and partnerships with both local and international organisations with similar goals. Para 1.20 | Construction (and repair) of hand operated and solar boreholes in several states. Provision of emergency relief to the victims of the severe flood that occurred along the Upper Niger River in Nigeria. We delivered food parcels, medical packs and assisted in shelter needs. Education: We currently run six centres, supporting children particularly orphans who would otherwise not have access to education. We aim to embed a culture of learning and support integration back into mainstream schools. Orphans: We continue to invest in orphans, providing shelter, education and emotional support. Empowerment: The programme has been transformative for those supported, equipping them with the skills to become self- sufficient. Health: As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we set up two emergency response work streams focusing on safety awareness training and providing emergency relief to those facing the greatest risk. Food distribution: We continue to provide food supply in hard to reach areas and run soup kitchens in various locations. |
