Management of the pavilion
As life returned to normal following the Covid pandemic the pavilion was reopened to retake its place at the heart of our community. In addition to hosting sporting teams, the pavilion facility has also been used for First Aid Training courses and as a venue for family wakes after funerals in the nearby church.
Encourage participation
The main users of the facility are -
-
Capel Cricket Club
-
Capel Football Club
-
Dorking Wanderers Youth Football
-
Capel Comets Junior Football
Cricket
As juniors progress into open age cricket, we now have more of a demand for senior cricket places and so a third adult team has been formed and plans are also in position for an additional Adult Sunday Team to allow for more of our elder youth section to progress into senior cricket.
Women’s cricket continues to grow and are now regularly playing games against other local teams.
Football
Capel Comets Youth Football Club was established in 2019 with one team and now has 11 teams comprising 2 under 13s teams, 12 teams, 2 under 9 teams, 2 under 8 teams and an under 7 team. There were 74 registered youth players in 2021.
Capel’s senior football side is going from strength to strength and has now reached county level. Improvements to the pitch at Capel have seen the second team playing home games at the ground. This has greatly increased winter usage of the pavilion.
The number of girls playing within the Youth Football has increased in 2022.
