Achievements and performance During thi$ period the Advice Group continued to provide advice on debt and benefits resulting in nearly 3.000 full cases, and over l.000 people supported with one ofy assisrance. Advisers have managed over 7.5 million Trunds worth of debts and made total gains for lo¢al peopl¢ ofjust ov¢r 5 million pound5. These figures reflect a committed staff team that has provided support and adviee throughout 2024125. We continue to nm several projects alongside the Core service of welfare b¢ncfLts and debt advi¢e. We have a solid reputstion as deliverers and influencers. We are based at the Neighbourhood Centr¢ in St Anns and approx. 50/0 of our clients are from thi5 area. However. we do outreach in Sneinton and across the city. Our Mon¢y Debt Advice ￿ld the British Gas Energy Tntst proje¢1 ¢8n work with people across the Fast Midlands. However other projects have a restricted geographical criterion. Referrals to th¢ Centre are regularly received from the Nottingham Ciry Council HousiD8. Nottingbaln City Council. housillg associations, health workers, local couucilor5. and GP surgeries. As in previou5 years, most enquiries rec¢iv¢d in 2024125 were about Depthment of Work and Pensions welfar¢ benefiis, Universal Credit and prioriry and non-priority debts. Other areas in which people were assisted include housing, homelessness. multiple debt advice, bailiffs, health, eMplo￿￿ent. water. and fuel. An ev¢r-increasin8 number of clients who ¢ome to the advice Centre have PTiority debt probl¢m5 and face ttisis due io the excessive cost of energy. We also distributed the household 5UPPOrt fimd held by the city council. by providin8 Supermarket vouchers. and hav¢ taken Applications for energy vouchers from r¢sidents. We were Successful in 8ainin8 additional funding to support clients with energy vouehers if they were struggling to put money on their pre-payrnent rnet¢￿. Debt •dvi£e yervite and the MoDey Advl¢e Servl¢e The Money Advice Servi¢e. and Nottingham City Council Housin8 fund our debt work. The projects redu¢¢ the level of Tent and coutLciI tax arrears and other Priority and non-priority debts within the city. We have assisted clients wilh budget plans and income m￿lm]Zation including applications foT housirt8 beneflt, discretionary housing paymenrs, tax ¢redits. aTLd personal independent paytnertts. The team apply to various tNst funds and small charitie5 for funds to assist clients with esseniial fumiture and wbite goods. Appeals The Centre continues to represent people ot various appeal tribunals for Personal Independent Pa￿ellts. disability living allowwxce. employment support allowance and indusirial injuries benefjt. Where ￿ were Success￿] in these appeals client5 receiTred back payments of benefit or ¢ompen58ti011. In addition. many of these clients will have also gained sncreases in their weekly benefit entltlement. Independent food bank Our indep¢Ddertt food bank was opened in December 2012 and hjs ¢ontinued to feed vulnerable people who ar¢ expeTi¢ncing hardship5 typically having no incotne. We provided 40 Christmas hampers for clients who were on the food bank books. with fresh food ond presents for family members. Brltl$h Gas Energy Trust We Continue to run the Fuel effieiency gnd d¢bt project funded by ihe British Gas Energy Trust. Advisors can provide a holistic service to clients providing advice OD rn&xitllwng incomes and reducing debts as well a5 managing or writing off energy debt and sUp￿)rting energy etTicien¢y Savings in the home. We sub-contract thrce ￿rt-[ime posts to Bestwood Advice Centre. Meadows Adviee C¢ntT¢ and Nottitjgham Law Cer)tre in order to ¢over both north, Centre and south of the City We have funding to issue energy vouchers io those citizen5 that are 5tN¥gling to heat theiT homes.
