| After leaving the orphanage the most difficult period in the life starts for 16—18-year-old teenagers. |
| This is a transition from 'care-free' life in the orphanage which is almost "closed" to adult life, when |
| they have to make their own decisions and take responsibility for them, to be ready to resist bad |
| influences from other people, to solve day-to-day problems. |
| In the first year after leaving an orphanage, they face issues related to getting ajob, a place to live |
| (flat), to plan their personal budgets, to get access to medical services and other housekeeping |
| problems. | ||||
| Detdom has 16years ofexperience ofworking with children from orphanages. They see a great |
| need to provide practical help during the first year after orphans graduate. This helps young people |
| to ad'ust faster to adult life and to inte rate into the socie better. |
