On l January 2016, the Charity accepted the transfer of the a55ets of the unincorporated charity that had hitherto been responSie for running Torpenhow Village Hall and took over that responsibility. The Blennerhasset and Torpenhow Parish Council is the holder of the freehold of the property. The object of the Charity is to provide a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the village of Torpenhow in the County of Cumbria (the area of benefitl without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, including use for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreatlon and leisure time occupation. with the objectlve of improving the conditions of lrfe of the inhabitants of the vllla8e and surroundlng area. The Trustees believe that the activlties of the Charity durin8 the report period have addressed these objects. Any person who retires as a Trustee Is ellgible for re-appointment. The Trustees meet mnthty to transact any necessary business. THE HA ITY'S ACTIVITIES AND A IEVEME The purpose of the Charity is to provide a villa8e hall for the benefit of the local community. Use of the Hall is through either individuals or or8anisation5 booking the facility or by the Village Hall Committee organising functions designed to raise funds for the Hall's upkeep. During the report period, the Hall was used for approximately fg)) hours. Re8ular users in a normal yeai indude.. The local Brownles. an Arts and Crafts Group and an Indoor Bowls group, Other charities Church of St. Michael and All Angels. Torpenhow. Various bands who appreciate the excellent acoustics of the Hall for practfj, Private functions, eg weddings. birthday parties and funeral teas. Blennerhasset & Torpenhow Parish Council, Allerdale 8orou8h Council. vthich uses the Hall as the local election polling station. char8e on any of the assets of the CIO. They also confimi that there have been no serious incidents requirin8 a report to the Charity Commission. The great majority of the Chartvs Iome Inearly 70%) is derived from fees pald by those hlrin8 the Hall, the balance being from the proceeds of events organised by the Committee. from the proceeds of providing a bar at events organised by others or from other miscellaneous sources such as grants and intomè from feed-in tariff derived from solar panels installed on the roof of the Hall. It is the policy of the Trustees to maTrntain the hall in a first-class condition. and to seek Improvement in it5 facilities where appropriate. Inevitably such expendf(ure can be si8nifi¢ant when set against nomial annual income. The average gross expenditure over the last 10 years has been in the re8lon of £ll,C(KJ.
