The main activity of the charity is to open
the premises to the public in general on
specified both regularly and on appointed
days involving national and local events.
In addition we encourage groups and
families to visit by appointment at any
reasonable time. In particular visits from
educational establishments are
encouraged and special arrangements
are made to accommodate larger groups.

The trustees are aware that the activities
are for the public benefit as stated in the

All the day to day activities of the charity
are undertaken by unpaid volunteers who
are the life blood of our work. In general
terms more work is done on a personal
face to face meetings with parties and
individuals rather than on written or
online communications.

We have managed to get the level of
historic knowledge available to more
local people and to involve schools to
encourage children to become aware and
involved in activities relating to local

We have had delays and postponement
due to various levels of Covid but we are
happy to say we have got most projects
back on course albeit two or three years
delayed.

bequest and an unfettered donation from
a local business. This has kept us in a
good strong position.

Our greatest threat is perceived to be
from government changing its view on
charities. We have no assets to speak of
but others could be viewed differently, in
addition we get indirect benefits as we
pay no local taxes.

and can be re-elected. The main duties of
trustees are to see that the management
committee is in place and operating in a
proper manner. The main responsibility
of trustees is the safe ownership of the
property at 6 Queen Street. At present
this is property has possessory title until
2028 when they can apply for full title.
