THE JIGSAW CLUB Year 2024 {19t January to 31st December 2024) Annual Report and Audited Accounts Charity Commission Number: 1161907 Purpose: We are a dub based in FliiwicK Bedfordshire providirNJ social needs for disabled people. We have been in exIStsn for over 49 years and currenty have over seventy members of all ages and disabilities. We meet On a fortnht at Flrtw'ck Village Hall arKI provide a varied programme of entertainment, as well as infomative evenings that are of benefit to disabled people. We own three aMbulanS which we use to collect our members from their homes to bring them to our meets'ngs and to take them home again. Vve also use these vehicles to take our members on various outs'ngs induding trips to garden centres and the pantomime at Christmas. Al our volunteers are unpaid who give up their time freely to help make a difference to people who would otherwise be isolated in their own homes. Throughout the year various charity events are organised to raise funds to enable us to deliver events, trips and activits'es for our members as well maintaining and Upkeen9 the ambulances lch play an important part of tr charity. Jigsaw Club continues to move foward effecbvely arKI we have been able to attract new members. During the past year we have welcomed 4 new members and additionally 6 new helperslvxorts who will be coacfEd and mentored accordingly, and will grealy enhani% and provKle fiexibility to our pool of helpers. Sadly we have Fost 6 members and helpers through bereavement and they will be sadly missed. May tlw rest in peace. Throughout the st 12 months. Jigsaw Club has provKled a wide and varied range of acts'vities that have t))ved both educational, entertainment and fun activities and needs. Iple have listened to our member5 wishes and desires and tried to accommodate accordingty. Such activit$ as a presentab.on from Inner Wheel. Ampthill Singers and Pub Nht Oui were undertaken. We also planted planters in the Autumn, guided and supported by our own 'Percy Throwerf. Additionally, we were intellectually challenged by wr annual quiz night that was managed and provided by the Jigsaw Club secretsry. New entertainment was also provided by Canon Lynda Klimas who provided a superb insight about being the kn'ng's Chaplain. The U3A provided members with musical evening, that was followed by a pre8entats.on on bee keeping with the added advantsge and opporbjnity to purchase delicious local honeyll During the Christmas Party. members had the opportunity to sing along with the Vauxhall and Luton Male Voice Choir. Earlier in the year, a member5 outing was arranged to attend a St Georges Day Jukn'lee meal arKI entertainment at Wficksteed Park, where everyone had the opportunity to sirvJ and danc. From verbal feedbad( everyone had a great day. The above is a sample of the aclivities that were arranged by JsaW Committee and helpers during 2024. to provide an effective and enjoyable programme for all members, and importanly to meet the purpose of the Jigsaw Club. Our appreciation also goes to the Jigsaw Club Secretary for all his hard work in puth'ng together a varied and interesting programme of activits'es. During November, Jigsaw Club contributed to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal and as Chairman, I was honoured to lay a wreath on behalf of Jigsaw Club at the ReMernberan Servio in Ampthill. As we now hokl our meetings in Flilwick, it was also agreed that we should lay a wreath at FIlCk'S Remembrance Service and this was carried out by one of our members. To all the helpers who provKle refreshments and snacks. To all committee members and above all. to the members who participate in the programme of events and make it all worthl)ile.
Treasurerfs Re ort. The final accounts for 2024 have been audited by Charles Goldthorpe and all transactions have been agreed and signed off. We ended the financtal year with very healthy combined bank balanctt of £43,376.28 compared to £29,180.02 at the end of 2023. We had £2,301.93 in our current account and £41,074.36 in our reserve account This was achieved with small grants and donations but without any significant grants, mainly by the hard work of the committee in organising a range of very successful fundraising events. The report gives a breakdown of the figUS that have been audited. It shows how money was raised (receipts) arKI how it was spent (payment activities). lIe it might appear in Ihe report that some fvnd-rai8ing activities only made a small profit, additional monies accumulated at these events are induded, for auditing. under different headings, for example in raffles, heads arKI tails, wMberS donab'ons. individual donab'ons and corporate donab'ons. As always. we started 2024 with the January lunch which raised £1563, including reIpts from the aVaYS popular tombola and heads and tails and very generous individual donations. V¥È had three coffee momings last year, two at Flitwick Village Hall and one at one of the members house ¥%thich ratsed £946. including raffles and donations. Aioint quiz night with Houghton Conquest Care Group in Houghton Conquest Village Hall, showed a profit for Jigsaw of £427. In October we had a very successful ABBA tribute night that raised £2,515, including the bar sales and raffle. We also raised £696 at the annual Ampthill Lyhts switch on even( including the £400 that was raised by the Christrnas hamper raffle, thanks to all of you donated a Christmas item to Ihat and who bought a raffle ts"ckèL Local organi5ations continued to support us very generously and we received £150 from the Rotary Club of Flitvale, £50 from Ampthill Women's InStite. Maulden Church donated £369, Maulden School, £94, Hooper Quaker Collection £132, HLB Runners £100, Flitwick Club £250, Ampthill Lodge of Instruction £190, Frank Branston Trust £500, Manor Court Lomjge Ampthill £300, St Andrews Church Soup Lunch £270, Golden Hare Morris DanrS £43 and a final donation to end the year of £825 came from East Beds Charty Cricket Shield, who have been loyal supporters of the Jigsaw Club for many years. GiftAid this year from HMRC came to £571.62 arK1 another paynRnt for the end of the year is due shortly. Central 8eds conb'nue to reimburse us for the fees for the hire of Flttwick Village Hall which for 2024 were £1,347. In addition to the rpOrate donations, are often in rlpt of smaller donats'ons from our loyal following of 'FRIENDS' who continue to make generous donations and purchase tickets for our fundraising activities but wish to remain anonymous. As previously mentioned, rt has been a very sad year, but our much-bved members who are no longer with us have left a *acy between them of neady £4.000. Our members also contribute to our income by making donations towards refreshments and transport and buyirg raffle ts'ckets at eath meeb'rKJ.
Running the 3 vehicles continues to be our tsggest expendilure, in addition to the vehicle insurance arKI day-to4ay running costs. The lfft on each vehicle must be SeICed iw1 a year and each vehide must have an annual MOT and Servi to ensure that they meet legal requirements and are roadworthy. Ttre drivers and escorts also undertake safety training to help ensure the safety and comfort of the members who use the vehicles. In total we spent £5.585 on the three vehides which included the three lots of insurance. The report shows an on-line esb'mate of the current value of the vehicles. We also have indemnty Insuran which cost £425,79 which covers public and product liability and accidents to people and propety at meetings and outside events Our Iwo popular events, the pub nht out and the members lunch at the Cross Keys in Pulloxhill were fulty paKI for OLrt of JSaW fvnds at a total of £2,050 for the tsvo events, while other events such as the summer outing and pantomime are funded by members donab'ons with a subsidy from JSaW furKIs. The committee have decided to continue to ring-fence annually £1.000 to go towards our 501h Anniversary celebrats'ons in 2025 and to increase the £5,000 to £10,C¥)O towards a vehicle p1arnent when it is needed. In 2025 these figu$ will be increased by £1,000 and £10,000 respectively to £3.WO and £20.OCJJ. Fundraising Report: 2024 was a busy year for fundraising events. Jigsaw Club ty to organise a vanety of events which will attract a broad range of supporters. The year stsrted with our very popular fundraising lunth trk1 at the Masonic Rooms in Ampthill which over 80 people attended. One of our key supporters opened tr*ir garden for a DD80 themed coffee moming which was very well attended. A speaal thanks for all our cake makers! Unfortunately, Ampthill Annual Gala did not take place during the summer. otherwise we would have been able to raise addits'onal funds for the dub. However. we had a stall at tt)e annual Lights Switch On in Ampthill which was our best ever success for the Jigsaw Club. Instead of"Name the Teddf we had a hamper which we raffled eXdIng all expectations of money raisedl During October held another Tribute Night at Pathside Hall in Ampthill starring °ABBA'. AI ts'ckets were sold without adverb'sing. Tr Tribute Night is now one of our regular events and it is planned that we hoFd another Tribute NKJht in October 2025. A Quiz Night was held at Houghton Village Hall where Jigsaw Club shared the organising and proceeds with Houghton Conquest Carers.
