Activities

The Derwent Valley Light Railway Society (DVLRS) operates and maintains the last remaining stretch of the original Derwent Valley Light Railway (DVLR) that ran from York Foss Islands to Cliff Common near Selby. The railway is operated on behalf of and within the bounds of the Yorkshire Museum of Farming (YMF) at Murton, York, as an integral part of the Museum.

Objects: (1) To Advance The Education Of The Public In The History, Development And Operation Of The Derwent Valley Light Railway And Railways In General, By The Preservation And Operation Of The Historic Unique Railway Line Of The Derwent Valley Light Railway Or Any Part Or Parts Thereof.(2) To Advance And Conserve The Heritage Of The Derwent Valley Light Railway, And Railways In General, For The Benefit Of The Public, By The Preservation, Maintenance And Repair Of Heritage Locomotives And Rolling Stock, Heritage Railway Buildings And Other Historic Railway Structures, Heritage Railway Signalling Systems, And Railway Archives, Historical Records And Artefacts.
