It is a gIStered charity with the Charity Commission. Appointment of Trustses The first Trustees were appointed by John and Irene Hays. Subsequert Trustees are elected by the memb8rs or Co-opted by the Board of Tnjstees. Trustees must be members of the charitable company 8nd one third of the Board of TnBlees must relire each year. A retiring Trustee who is eligiNe may be reappointed. All Trustees were releCted lo remain part ofthe Board of Trustees for the next year. John and Irene Hays set upthe Foundation follong 35 years in ihe travel industry, where they have enjoyed plawng a large rDle in kelping and being part of the local communities wheTe Hays Travel branches are ICted. The Foundation was set up with the gim lo build on the charitable activities of Hays Travel. The charity aims to woth with organisatKins that support local people, to help them achieve their potential and improve their quality of lrfe. The FoUndatn would like to create opportunitses for young ople. and support th8m to atheve thr goals. whether this is their health. spott art or edurAtion. With the maprity of fij11ng being d(wJated from Hays Travel Limited. the slaff at Hays Travel are also encouraged to fundraise throughout the year. The webslte has played a major role in atlowing local charities to apply for ftjnding. The Board meets qLtarteTly to review applicats.ons and approve grants which they believe are aligned with the aims of the Foundation.
