Governance and Structuro Derwentslde Trust revlews all policies and procedures annually, with formal confimiation taking place at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) each May. Our Communty Kitchen and Café has progressed substantially and is on track to open by July 2025. Extensive refurbishment work has been completed within the kitchen faclllties at Glenroyd House, and planning is underway to introduce a community-focused menu and regular meal provision for local residents. The initiative will play an important role in supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals, helping to reduce food insecurity and social Isolatlon. Our Community Panty continues to experience increased demarKI, reflecting the growing needs of local families and individuals. We have seen a notable rise in requests for food parcels and essential supplles. Similarly, our Clothes Bank has expanded its reach, provlding practical support, clothing, and assistance to those in financial hardship or experienciro homelessness. The Trust remains dedicated to offerlng help, advlce, guidance, and slgnposting to professional and specialist services, ensuring every individual who comes through our doors receives meaningful support and connection to further assistance. The 35-year lease gives the charity security of tenure and enables strategic investment in the development of new facilities and services. This has been a year of meanlngful development, community engagement, and preparation for the launch of our much-anticipated Community Kitchen. The Twst has remained focused on its central purpose - to serve the local community through the provision of facilities. tralnSng. and support aimed at improving wellbeing. reducing isolation. and helping individuals and families in need. We have contlnued to operale to a high stsndard, preparing and delivering food parcels for vulnerable people and those facing financial hardship through our Community Pantry. Alongside this. our Clothes Bank has provided vital SUPF*)rt to families and individuals requiring essential cbthing and everyday items. We have worked closely wlth Durham County Council to dellver Fun and Food activities durlng school holidays. providing nutritious meals and engaging sessions for children 8nd families, includlng those eligible for free school meals. These programmes have been very successful and continue to grow in popularity and community impact. The Trust continues to benefit from its long-term lease, which provides stsbility and allows us to apply for external grants and funding to further develop and improve our facillties. This will enable greater public access and help us to expand the range of services we can provide. A partlcular highlight of the year was the Glenroyd Grotto, a much-loved community event that has now become a key part of our annu81 calendar. The Grotto Is provided completely free of charge to low-income families and those most in need within our communty. It offers children and their families a magical Christmas experience at a time of year that can be especially difficult for many. Through our Glenroyd Toy Appeal, we were able to provide gifts for local children who might otherwise go without. In addition, the Trust provlded Christmas lunch food parcels for families. ensurfrKJ that everyone could enjoy a fesb've meal and spend precious time together durlng the holiday season. The Glenroyd Grotto has grown each year and now represents one of our most meaningful community initiatiV8s. embodying the Trust's commitment to care, compassion. arKI togelherness.
