THE COMMONWEALTH RESOUNDS REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 10 December 2024 The tTUStees present their report with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 10 December 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities.- Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019). OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and aims The objELts of the CIO ('objects') are specifically restricted to the following.. for the advancement of the education of the public in all &spects of music and musicianship in commonwealth countries in particular (but not exclusively) by'.- a) provision of perfornthnces, seminars, projects, masterclasses, discussions and outreach work for musicians, b) providllig facilities and oppoitunities to musicians and the public to develop tlieir ullderstanding and appreciation of music in all its aspects. c) develop partnerships between artists from different cultural origins and support training programmes for musicians. The charity confms that the trustee5 have complied with their duty to have due regard to guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising its powers or duties and in deciding what activities the charity should Idertake.The trustees believe that the charity'b accounts demonstrate that it acts for the public benefit. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE The Commonwealth Resounds continued to administer the Play On Fund to support music and make initiative$ worldwide, in collaboration with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Play On has already made a significant impact by provAding fanCIal support to a diverse range of organisations outside of tlie UK.The Play On nd has generously supported inspiring groups that are making a positive difference ia their communities through music. In collaboration with UK conservatories and 5pecialisÈ music schools, we took several musicAans to Antigua and Barbuda in July 2024 to Share our musical experiences and support the nurturing of young musical talent on these islands. We supportcd the Cornmonwcalth Music Relay project, a musical challenge for all Conmionwealth wuntries. tn October 2024, a small group of musicians travelled to Samoa for CHOGM 2024 to witness the fll]al perfornmnce of th¢ Commonwealth Music Relay. Again we have organised musicians for various events nded by the Commonwealth Secretariat, and we also supported the Royal Commonwealth Society and Westminster Abbey by providing musicians for Commonwealth Day 2024. We helped them to prepare their musical prOammeS and voluntarily assisted them with all logistics for the event. FINANCIAL REVIEW During the year to 10 December 2024 the charity had total income of £48,637 (2023: £85,829) and total expenditure of £46,199 (?023'. £65,494) giving net income of £2.438 for the year (2023.. £20,335) as shown on the Statement of Financial Activities on page 3 of the accounts. At the year end the charity held total fidS of £25,589 (2023.. £23,151).
