REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 10 December 2024
The tTUStees present their report with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 10 December 2024. The
trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities.- Statement of Recommended Practice
applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The objELts of the CIO ('objects') are specifically restricted to the following..
for the advancement of the education of the public in all &spects of music and musicianship in commonwealth countries in
particular (but not exclusively) by'.-
a) provision of perfornthnces, seminars, projects, masterclasses, discussions and outreach work for musicians,
b) providllig facilities and oppoitunities to musicians and the public to develop tlieir ullderstanding and appreciation of
music in all its aspects.
c) develop partnerships between artists from different cultural origins and support training programmes for
musicians.
The charity confms that the trustee5 have complied with their duty to have due regard to guidance on public benefit
published by the Charity Commission in exercising its powers or duties and in deciding what activities the charity should
Idertake.The trustees believe that the charity'b accounts demonstrate that it acts for the public benefit.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
The Commonwealth Resounds continued to administer the Play On Fund to support music and make initiative$ worldwide,
in collaboration with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Play On has already made a significant
impact by provAding f￿anCIal support to a diverse range of organisations outside of tlie UK.The Play On ￿nd has generously
supported inspiring groups that are making a positive difference ia their communities through music.
In collaboration with UK conservatories and 5pecialisÈ music schools, we took several musicAans to Antigua and Barbuda in
July 2024 to Share our musical experiences and support the nurturing of young musical talent on these islands.
We supportcd the Cornmonwcalth Music Relay project, a musical challenge for all Conmionwealth wuntries. tn October
2024, a small group of musicians travelled to Samoa for CHOGM 2024 to witness the fll]al perfornmnce of th¢
Commonwealth Music Relay.
Again we have organised musicians for various events ￿nded by the Commonwealth Secretariat, and we also supported the
Royal Commonwealth Society and Westminster Abbey by providing musicians for Commonwealth Day 2024. We helped
them to prepare their musical prO￿ammeS and voluntarily assisted them with all logistics for the event.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
During the year to 10 December 2024 the charity had total income of £48,637 (2023: £85,829) and total expenditure of
£46,199 (?023'. £65,494) giving net income of £2.438 for the year (2023.. £20,335) as shown on the Statement of Financial
Activities on page 3 of the accounts.
At the year end the charity held total fi￿dS of £25,589 (2023.. £23,151).

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Commonwealth Resounds
I report to the charity trustees oll my examination of th¢ accounts of The Commonwealth Resounds (the Trust) for the year
ended 10 December 2024,
Responsibilities and basts of report
As the chariry trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts iu accordance with the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the TTusVs accounts carricd out undLr 8eLtion 145 Df the Act and in carrying out my
exarnination I have followed all applicable Directions givcn by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's slatement
I have Completed my examination. I confm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the
examinalion giving me ¢aus¢ to believ¢ that in any n￿terIaL respect:
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act. or
the accounts do not accord with those records. OT
the accounts do not comply with the applicable rcquircmcnts concerning the fom and content of accounts set out in
the Charities (Account.% amd Rcp()rts) R¢&7ulations 2008 other than any requirement thai the accounts give a true and
fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matteiB lli connection with the examination to which attention should be

ACCOUNTllNG POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial stalemenls
The financial statemeiits of the charity. which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in
accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Aceounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) {effective l January 2019),, FindllLial Rcporting
Standard 102 'The Financial Rcporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Charitl¢s Act
2011. The fmancial statements have been PTLpared iirider the historical cost convention.
Income
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlem¢nt to the fithds, it is
probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured r¢liably.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there ib (I ILgydl or conslnictive obligation conunitting the charity
to that expeijditure, Lt is probable that a transfer of economic knefits will bL rcquircd in settlement alld the amount
of the obligation can be rneaslwed reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified
under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular
headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources,
Taxation
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestrirted fL￿dS can be iised in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the tNstees.
Restricted thndy ¢an only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions
arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted pury)ose5.

10 December 2023.
Truslees, expenses
During the year M Coakley was paid £2,220 (2023 £2,220) in respect of legal services provided to the
Commonwealth Resounds. He was also reimbursed travel expenses of £51.
During the year A Cox clairned expenses of £719 (2023.. £nil) in respect of travel.
