Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 (1) The relief of sickness and preservation
of health of people suffering from Food
Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome
(FPIES), in particular but not exclusively by
the provision of support to families affected
by this condition within the UK.
(2) The advancement of education for the
public benefit by raising awareness of
FPIES within the UK and providing up to
date information and recommendations on
the management of FPIES for patients and
healthcare professionals.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
We have continued to provide support for
families of children with FPIES, through
hosting our website and direct enquires to
the charity.
We have attended two conferences during
this period in order to raise awareness
about FPIES amongst healthcare
professionals. At one of these, the
Paediatric Food Allergy Symposium hosted
by Nutricia, one of our Trustees gave a talk
on ‘FPIES – a parent view’ alongside a talk
by a paediatric allergy consultant about
FPIES. We hope that this helped to raise
awareness about FPIES, and also to
highlight the difficulties faced by families
and the unmet needs. We also spoke to a
number of healthcare professionals and
distributed information sheets.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 In planning our activities for the year, we
kept in mind the charity
commissions’ guidance on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Through attendance at conferences, we
have been able to raise awareness about
FPIES amongst healthcare professionals.
We know, from the support that we provide,
that lack of awareness of FPIES makes it
more difficult for families to get a timely
diagnosis and access appropriate clinical
care.
Our website continues to be a valued
source of information for families dealing
with FPIES.
