Trustees Annual report meeting April 2023

Good Deeds Trust Trustees: Mark Aldred Karen Aldred Hilary Aldred Anne Tunnicliffe – signatory

I would like to present Good Deeds Trust Annual Report for year-end 31st March 2023. Over the last year we have seen the Tea Room open for a while but unfortunately it continued losing money so the committee had no choice but to close it.

Successes

Thankfully the sales of the Guardian Angel devices have continued to increase the work that Karen and I have done with Essex Police means they are promoting our devices more and more to help people living with Dementia down there. Stafford Police have now been in touch and have shared the important use of the devices wherever they go which is brilliant.

A big thank you still goes out to Anne, Karen and myself for programming the devices and sending them out to customers. Anne continues dropping the devices off at the Post office after programming.

A big thank you goes out to Hilary for her inspiration of building Santa’s Hideout to the rear of her property so we can raise much needed funds for the charity. It was a huge success selling out in just a few days. We raised double the amount that we have ever raised before. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and all the bakers who baked the cookies for Mrs Clause.

Challenges

It feels like we have had a real uphill struggle over the last 12 months trying to get the Memories tea room up and running again. Unfortunately, we had no choice to close it for good as it was losing so much every month. Thanks to the charity running it over 4 years we have supported over 20 young adults back into work after volunteering at the tea room which is some comfort I suppose.

Progress

The changes to the www.dementiabuddy.co.uk website have continued to be a big success as the devices sales are going from strength to strength, especially in our new areas of Essex and Stafford. Thank you everyone for your support.

The committee continue to run the Dementia Cafés and luncheon clubs to support those locally living with Dementia in Atherton Town Hall. Getting back on track is the most important thing as the support, we give to those people living with dementia and their families is so essential to them.
