Achievements and perforniance The trustees were delighted to receive a substantial donation this year which enabled the charity to tsk¢ a large skp forbvdrd in being able to provide more consistent and higher value charitable donations each year. Th¢ trustees met and considered a variety of charities but have selected the below charities &8 the favoured ones lo receive our support for the financial year ended 30 June 2024. D V MaTlow & Co Ltd were appotnted tto act as our accountants to ensure that we fulfil our reporting responsibilities to the charities commissioN as advised and re¢(Jmmended during our January 2025 meeting with PFM Asso¢iate5. D V Marlow & Co Ltd have confirnied they will be able to do our submission for us on time and a¢t for us on an ongoing b&%is. 2. We have decided to move away from the PFM purposeful portfolio (but continue with them for their holistic advice) following a ¢ontinued period of underperforniance against the relevant benchmarks. PFM associatss have identified a suitable alternative in the Brewin Dolphin MPS and we have gxven the instruction, following the suitability lettsr being issued to move the investment portfolio to Brcwin. We have agreed with the assessment of PFM to follow a moderte risk strategy and they will continue to monitor its suitability for us. 3. We hav¢ updateiL and adopted a new suite of policies and procedures which have been agreed by the trustses. 4. We have added 2 new trnstees and the thartttes commisston have been advised oftheir appoinlment. Pollcy on raverv£f As a chatity with no costs associated with propety, staff or liabilities. the twstees took the decE51o ITh line with professional advice, that the charity would maintsin reserves in the fonn of liquid investments and cash. These reserves will be kept at a level to cover any costs incurred by the charity each financtal year. The obje¢ts of the charity are l) for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of anima15 in need of care and attention and, in particular. to Provide and maintain res¢ue homes or other facilitie5 for the reception, care and treatment of such animals. 2) To promote humane behaviour towdrds animals by providing appropriate care. protection, treathient and security for animaIs which ate ID need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreafmenL poor circumstances or ill usage and to educate the public in matters pertaining to animal welfare in general and the prevention of Cruelty and suffering amongst animals. 3) Advancing any other purpose which may be charitable according to the law in England and Wales, in particular for furtherance of the arts. The law applicable to charitie5 requires the trustees to prepare finan¢i21 ststements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the stste of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of re50ur¢es of the charity for that period. In preparing these finan¢ial statement4 the trustees are required to: select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistendy. observe the methods and principles in the Clwitie5 SORP. make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and PTud¢nt state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material depareS disGlosed and explained in the fitwi¢ial statements; and prepare the [)cial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in busines5. I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The John Craddock & Geoffrey Owen Charitable Trust for the year ended 30 June 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of The John Craddock & Geoffrey Owen Charitable Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the The John Craddock & Geoffrey Owen Charitable Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section l 45(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
Since The John Craddock & Geoffrey Owen Charitable Trust's gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member ofICAEW, which is one of the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of The John Craddock & Geoffrey Owen Charitable Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Basis of preparation The Iohn Craddock & Geofftey Owen Charitable Trust meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102.
