The charity provides facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation and leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of the Brookfield area of Preston, and in common effect to advance education and to improve the physical and economic conditions of life in the said area of benefit

Brookfield Spaceplace CIO (reg charity number 1158546) is currently dormant and we are still operating as Brookfield Spaceplace (unincorporated association)(re charity number 1084435) until such time that we are able to transfer the lease of the building from the unincorporated association to the CIO. Brookfield Spaceplace (1084435) currently leases the building we operate within from Preston College on a long term lease until March 2025. It is the aim to transfer the lease to Brookfield Spaceplace CIO (1158546).

In December 2015 the lawyer dealing with this matter has confirmed that the college is prepared in principal to provide consent for the transfer of the lease, but proposed to produce a formal Licence to Assign. The college is asking Brookfield Spaceplace to meet its legal fees of £750 plus vat for dealing with the licence to assign. We have agreed to pay these costs and at the date of this report are waiting for the document to be produced, we are hoping that this will be any day now, as due to an administrative error our file was archived at Preston College for a number of months.
