Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
Oughtibridge Gala Events and Donations Charity have organised two community events within our financial year. Sports Night was a fine and sunny evening meaning it was well attended evening with the children’s races being very busy. The Tom Holmes Gala Chase was popular as always. The numbers were down on previous years as there was another event locally. Gala Day started with a walking parade through the village, led by the Gala Princess and her attendants. The local Brownies, Rainbows, playgroups and dance groups all joined in the parade. As is traditional, Oughtibridge Brass Band led the parade into the park before opening the Gala with a Fanfare. We had no theme this year. We had an entertainment group along with bubble making group and Maniax comedy duo. We also had two local dancing groups and other bands. Oughtibridge Brass Band and Training Band provided music during the afternoon. There were lots of stalls and games. There was our usual dog competition. The weather was hot and sunny which did bring out the crowds, with many taking shelter in the shade from the trees around thepark as the afternoon went |
| on. Different opportunities for food were supplied by local food vans. Gala sold locally produced ice creams which went down extremely well and provided a great source of income. Our two events have enabled us to raise enough money to be able to donate £5600 to local charitable organisations in October 2025. Money was given to several local churches, scout and guide groups, the luncheon club, Brass Band Training Band, local schools PTA and supportersgroupsplus others. |
