Achievements and Performance
Review of Activities
The charitable company is now able to fulfil its objectives and offer a wide variety of activities to the inhabitants of Langton Green. The Association currently comprises of:
-
Langton Green Football Club
-
Langton Green Netball Club
-
Langton Green Cricket Club
We actively wish to encourage all types of sports, not just physical sport and research is currently being carried out to ascertain the demands of the local village and surrounding areas. We look forward to supporting any proposals that hopefully will be forthcoming in the very near future.
Our three activities have had another exciting year each with their respective achievements. The football club have had over 60 teams this season from U7s to U18s and it has again been another successful season. A number of Langton teams have reached cup finals and currently the U13s, U15s and U18s enter their final matches with the chance of becoming league champions.
As in previous seasons the recreation ground has suffered from the weather mainly between December and March which decimated the fixture schedule and we were fortunate to have booked the all weather pitches. Without this commitment it would have been impossible to complete the season or been in a position to let the teams carry out their weekly training sessions.
We have had over 900 playing members this season which is nearly a maximum for the club with the current restrictions on ground availability rather than having to advertise for players. As reported last year the girls section of the club is still increasing in numbers which the Football Association continues to promote.

TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025
_____________
The club has over 100 registered coaches, all with the requisite Safeguarding, First Aid and Coaching qualifications and the volunteer base of the club remains a cornerstone to its success. The size of the club makes it increasingly important to have a solid core of experience and commitment from a Football Management Committee comprising ten representatives overseeing day to day operations as well as looking strategically to the future. My personal thanks go to all those involved in the team management and the overall operation of the club.
The netball club have had a very action-packed season. They had approximately 350 members with 11 teams playing in the Sevenoaks Junior League, 8 teams in the Tunbridge Wells League and 3 teams in the Kent County Junior League. In the winter season in the Sevenoaks Junior League Langton were winners in Division 1 and 2 and runners up in Division 1, 3 and 4. In the Tunbridge Wells League Langton were winners in Division 1,3 and 4 and runners up in Division 3.
In the summer season in the Sevenoaks Junior League we were winners in Division 1 and runners up in Division 5. In the Tunbridge Wells League, Langton were winners in Division 3 and runners up in Division 1 and 3.
In the Kent Junior County League, the U16 Development team were runners up and the U16A were winners of the county tournament.
My thanks to Laura and her team for another successful year.
The cricket club have had another very good season. The team played 19 games and won 12 and lost 6. There was 1 game not played as opponents were not able to field a team due to a lack of players. So overall it was a very good season all round. The club were able to field a full side every week and used over 20 players. The club is fortunate to have a good core of players and found it easy to field a team every week when other teams were struggling. The captain Adrian Haider was the mainstay of the team with bat and ball, winning both trophies. Other notable performances were by Richard Arnold and Mohammed Salah with the bat and Brian Field with the ball. The club held a very successful quiz night which is their main fund raiser for the year. The club look forward to another successful season.
The charitable company is now able to fulfil its objectives and offer a wide variety of activities to the inhabitants of Langton Green. We actively wish to encourage all types of sports, not just physical sport and research is currently being carried out to ascertain the demands of the local village and surrounding areas. We look forward to supporting any proposals that hopefully will be forthcoming in the very near future.
Unfortunately, we were again unable to hold our major fund raising football fiesta which has been in existence for many years and was one of the largest and most successful fiestas in the south-east. We did, however, hold another internal fiesta for sixty of our teams and the event proved a great success and it is hoped that this will now become a regular annual event.

_____________
Reserves policy
At the year end, the Charity held unrestricted free reserves of £269,365 (2024: £215,999). This represents 14 months’ unrestricted expenditure.
Future Developments
With regard to the membership numbers the respective clubs with the exception of the cricket club are now at near full capacity. We need to concentrate on the cricket and look to develop the youth cricket section, together with any new activities that may be proposed. These as mentioned earlier do not have to be sporting activities.
The pavilion is now up and running 7 days a week with many activities during the week. Our aim is to make the pavilion a more social club and together with the Parish Council we have invested funds in new furniture and games that can be played by both children and adults.
One exciting new activity that will be starting this year is the Langton Basketball Club which already has teams competing in local leagues. A warm welcome to all the players and their parents and hope they enjoy their time with us.
Risk management
The trustees regularly review the major operational, financial and governance risks to which the Charity is exposed. Guidance is taken from relevant committees and consultants to ensure systems and procedures are in place to mitigate those risks and determine whether any further steps should be taken to manage those risks more effectively.
The key risk to the charity is compliance with all the regulatory bodies. The trustees have procedures in place to safeguard the members of the charity.
Public Benefit
In accordance with Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011, the Trustees have had due regard to the guidance published by the Charity Commission on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s objectives and planning future activities.
Trustees’ responsibilities statement
The trustees (who are also directors of Langton Green Community Sports Association Limited for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
