The club currently operates under the ECB Clubmark status
which was
renewed in 2019. This recognises that the club is well run,
showing a
commitment to not only junior cricket (the club’s Academy has
now been
operating for 15 years), but also to coaching, the raising of
standards and
the development of the game of cricket. It is the club’s policy
that all its
lead coaches hold at least an ECB Level 2 coaching qualifcation,
are frst aid qualifed, attend regular safeguarding courses and
are DBS checked

The club’s trustees have given careful consideration to the
relevant
guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public beneft:
• Membership of SWCC is completely open. There is no waiting
list
and the trustees believe that the subscriptions set for each
season are afordable for the majority of the local community.
Subscriptions may be reduced or waived for those with less
fnancial means.
• There is no test of skill for membership.
• Membership is available to all members of the public who wish
to
join.
• SWCC provides facilities to play and practise cricket across the
entire range of cricketing ability.
• SWCC’s facilities for playing cricket are only available to
members, not least because it is a requirement of the various
competitions in which SWCC takes part that players should be
bona fde members of the club.
• Notwithstanding the above, the club’s main ground is made
available, free of charge, for a local Kwik Cricket league
involving
local primary schools, for the ‘Chance to Shine’ charity and also
to
the Safron Walden Rounders Club.
• And fnally, no charge is made for admission for spectators
wishing to watch the matches taking place.

Section D Achievements and performance Despite the challenges of managing Co-vid 2019, the club was Summa r y of the main able to put together a coaching and playing p rogramme f rom achievements of the June once the guidance made this possible. The club secured cha r ity d u r ing the yea r grant funding (including a business g rant f rom the local authority) to help purchase the necessary PPE as well as three gazebos to replace changing rooms that could not be used. We continued to hold meetings at executive and rt ustee level, albeit virtually. Our sponsors stood by us despite their own challenges, and we found new sponsors for our 1[st] XI who compete at the highest level of recreational c ricket. Other sponsors helped with the upgrade of our scoreboard, installed a bench and signage on our clubhouse. Our landlords, the Town Council, resurfaced the car park.

On the field we remained competitive; indeed teams in our junior section reached the semi-final o r final stages of all three Essexwide competitions at U12, U16 and U19, with the U16s winning their competition. Three sponsors contributed to a new set of shirts for the final.

We reviewed our governance model and appointed three new trustees.

Anglo American Playing Fields and a working capital balance sufficient to

meet ongoing costs through the close season. Restricted reserves relate to the net cages and the development of the Nursery End.
