Market Harborough Historical Society CIO Report of the Trustees for the period ended 31 December 2023 Membershlp At the end of 2U23 the Sodety had 79 nembers12022= 103 membersl. Membership has dèclined but it is not clear whether this is partly due to the current economic climate andlor the demographi of the Society. The Society is actively recruiting new members and has seen some increase in the early part 012024. We have been pleased to See so many visitors at our monthly meetings and will try to encourage them to join the Society. Ftnancial Review The charity's general unrestrirted income has fallen slightly this year, primarily due to payments relatiD.g to the -prInt of The History of Market Harf)orough Vol l. and increased costs relating to venue hire for monthly meetings. The publicatlon of the Harborough Historian and maintaining regular contact with members by newsletter represent much of the expenditure. Regular costs such as insurance and accountanry fees During 2023 our 8ankers, Natwest. adwsed us that our current bank accounts were no longer suitable for a CIO Charity and that we were obliged to open a new business bank account and to transfer our a55ets into this account and the old account wa5 clrksed. We now have access to modem banking facilities which should offer our members additional services and benefits. which were prewously unavailable to us. The charity considers that a general reserve in the region of £5.)0 is required togethef Wlth specific funds $0 the general reserves shown in the Staternent of Assets and Liabilities 15 in excess trf the requirement, although this still may be needed to fvnd The History of Market Harborough Vol11. Declaration I declare, in my capacity of Charity Trustee and Treasurer. that the Trtjstees: Have approved the report above.. and Have authorised me to sign it on their behatf Michael Stroud MA Treasurer 23rd September 2024 Page 3
