The objects of the CIO are to preserve and protect the health of people in Calderdale and surrounds who have suffered a cardiac event or are at risk of such an event by providing facilities, support and rehabilitation. Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document

The Trustees have fulfilled their Public Benefit requirements We continued running classes with Covid-19 Guidance. HEARTBEAT provided Exercise / Tai Chi classes, walks / health walks, classes and social events to meet its objectives and for the public benefit. With the exception of the qualified trainers for Tai Chi and Exercise classes, every activity is manned by volunteers. During 2024 no expenses or any other payments were made to any volunteer.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Membership dropped slightly from 241 to 237, including 28 who did not renew their Membership in July.
Our 780[th] member joined since our start in 2006 joined during 2024.
Attendances increased after Covid restrictions were lifted. Exercise Class attendance decreased by -5.1% Tai Chi Class attendance increased by 6.3% Walks / Health Walks attendance increased by 7.1% Social events attendance increased by 85.0% Overall attendance increased by 11.8%
We fund all of our room hire costs, trainer costs and equipment.
We took part in our MP Craig Whittaker’s 2 Pensioner Fairs.
We continue to run a free afternoon Chit-Chat Club for members who are isolated. Offering light refreshments, games and chats.
We received a donation from YBS of £1,000 for our Defib Fund
Our Chair is a Trustee for Brighouse Sports Club, our venue.
We have donated items to the Salvation Army and Overgate Hospice shops.
We took part in an MND / Rob Burrow Centre fund raising event on 29 August which raised over £3,000 for their charities.
