The objects of our CIO are for the benefit of patients of children’s hospital oncology units: -

The Henry Allen Trust – Celebrating 10 Years of Henry’s Legacy
2024 marked a significant milestone for The Henry Allen Trust (THAT), as we proudly celebrated 10 years of Henry’s legacy. It has been one of the most rewarding yet challenging years to date. As a registered charity, our commitment remains unwavering, to bring joy, support, and comfort to children, teens, young adults, and their families battling childhood cancer across Milton Keynes, surrounding areas, and nationally.
The Board of Trustees, alongside our dedicated Events Committee and THAT Support Committee, continues to work tirelessly to ensure the sustainability and growth of the charity. The dedication of our volunteer base has also grown considerably, with passionate individuals supporting our events and initiatives throughout the year.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
Following on from our 2023–2024 strategy focused on expanding major events and engaging corporate partners. By streamlining resources and increasing collaboration, we enhanced our fundraising efforts and raised awareness with greater efficiency.
Impact and Outreach
Through the incredible work of Team Henry, we have reached more families than ever before. Our ongoing partnerships with hospital teams, particularly within Milton Keynes University Hospital and the Thames Valley Cancer Network, have contributed to improvements in care, shared decision-making, and facilities for young oncology patients.
Our commitment to raising awareness of childhood cancers remains strong. We have distributed educational materials, maintained a strong social media presence, and delivered presentations at seminars, conferences, and professional training sessions.
Henry’s Home Vision
While the vision for “Henry’s Home” remains on hold due to financial constraints, a potential piece of land has been identified, and preliminary investigations are underway. We continue to evaluate this project as a future priority, holding onto hope that it will become a reality in the coming years.
Clinical and Family Support
We are incredibly proud of the support provided across UK hospitals including MKUH, Stoke Mandeville, Addenbrooke’s, John Radcliffe, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and UCLH. Families received tailored care packs, arts and crafts, toy bundles, and essential equipment.
Our monthly THAT Support meet-ups have remained a vital space for families to connect, share, and heal. We’ve also delivered hospital visits with food and treats, launched a reliable taxi service to treatment centres, and continued to utilise the THAT vehicle to deliver care packages and

gifts.
Grants, Wishes and Well-being
Our Treats and Wishes programme has brought joy to many families through gifts such as Merlin Annual Passes, National Trust memberships, family outings, holiday vouchers, and more. Financial grants—delivered in collaboration with YLVC social workers and oncology teams—have now expanded to the majority of UK oncology wards and remain one of our most in-demand services.
We continue to support the SIOPEN clinical trial for Neuroblastoma, and our ongoing collaboration with YLVC social workers ensures wraparound support for families. Our trained counsellor has provided invaluable emotional support and well-being services, working alongside healthcare professionals to meet holistic family needs.
Leadership and Advocacy
Founder and Director Dawn Allen continues to be a powerful voice for children and families affected by cancer. She represents paediatric cancer patients on several boards and committees, including her role as Chairperson of the Milton Keynes Cancer Patient Partnership and contributor to numerous CCGs and MDTs. Our Junior Trustees also remain active contributors, offering a fresh perspective and continuing to influence Henry’s Legacy meaningfully.
Looking Ahead
While the long-term effects of the pandemic continue to impact fundraising and family well-being, Team Henry remains committed to finding innovative solutions. Financial pressures persist, but our resilience, community support, and determination to uphold Henry’s legacy remain stronger than ever.
We extend heartfelt thanks to every supporter, volunteer, corporate partner, and healthcare professional who has stood beside us. Together, we will continue to make a difference—because no family should face childhood cancer alone.

Networking has remained a valuable tool for The Henry Allen Trust, enabling us to access external expertise and support, particularly within the corporate sector. These relationships continue to play a crucial role in expanding our reach and strengthening our capabilities.

Our dedicated volunteer team remains at the heart of our charity. We are pleased to report that not only have our core volunteers remained committed, but we have also seen encouraging growth in new volunteer engagement across various activities and events.
We are incredibly grateful for the contributions from our well-being counsellors, who continue to dedicate time voluntarily. Their work has been vital in supporting the emotional and mental health of the families we serve.
In 2024, we also made a strategic investment in developing our capacity for grant and bid writing. This has been an important step in securing additional funding sources to ensure the sustainability and growth of our services.

Key Achievements in 2024 Summary of the main achievements of the charity This year, The Henry Allen Trust has proudly expanded the reach and during the year impact of our Treats and Wishes and Financial Grant programmes, supporting even more children, teens, young adults, and their families across the UK affected by childhood cancer. These initiatives continue to bring comfort, joy, and critical financial relief during some of the most challenging times.
We have also strengthened our voice within the NHS, raising further awareness of childhood cancers by actively participating in various national boards and cancer groups. Advocacy remains a vital part of our mission, and we are committed to ensuring childhood cancer remains a priority on the national healthcare agenda.
Our ongoing funding of Oncology nursing courses reflects our dedication to supporting and improving outcomes for young cancer patients.
This year’s Easter Egg Appeal broke all previous records, receiving the highest number of donations in our charity’s history, an incredible show of community support and kindness.
Despite ongoing challenges, we have remained firmly rooted in our charitable aims and objectives , continuing to adapt and innovate to ensure our work remains sustainable. Our team has embraced new and creative fundraising approaches , helping us stay resilient and effective in a changing economic landscape.
Our Annual Family Fun Day was a tremendous success bringing families together and returning to fundraising levels. These moments of joy and unity are at the heart of what we do.
Team Henry has also continued to take on various fitness challenges and charity bike rides , which have become highly successful fundraising and awareness campaigns, as well as fantastic ways to engage new supporters.
We’ve been able to offer more in-person support to families and extend our reach to even more hospitals across the UK , ensuring our services remain accessible and impactful.
