AZUKO SEEKS TO IMPROVE LIVES IN AREAS WITH LIMITED ASSETS THROUGH COMMUNITY DRIVEN, RESEARCH BASED DESIGN INITIATIVES THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO LOCAL CONTEXTS.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:1) To Advance Education For The Public Benefit In The Subjects Of Public Interest Design And Sustainable Development.public Interest Design Is The Cross Fertilisation Of Community Development And Design That Transcends The Mere Products, Systems And Services Whilst Actively Addressing The Social, Political, Economic And Environmental Conditions. This Is Achieved Through The Use Of Innovative Design Solutions That Leverage Local Assets And Offer Dignity For Those In Resource And Budget Limited Settings.2) To Develop The Capacity And Skills Of Socially And Economically Disadvantaged Communities Worldwide In Such A Way That They Are Better Able To Identify, And Help Meet, Their Needs And To Participate More Fully In Society.3) To Promote Sustainable Development For The Benefit Of The Public By:(i) The Preservation, Conservation And The Protection Of The Environment And The Prudent Use Of Resources;(ii) The Relief Of Poverty And The Improvement Of The Conditions Of Life In Socially And Economically Disadvantaged Communities; And(iii) The Promotion Of Sustainable Means Of Achieving Economic Growth And Regeneration.sustainable Development Means "Development Which Meets The Needs Of The Present Without Compromising The Ability Of Future Generations To Meet Their Own Needs".4) The Promotion For The Benefit Of The Public Of Urban Or Rural Regeneration In Areas Of Social And Economic Deprivation Worldwide By All Or Any Of The Following Means:i) The Relief Of Poverty In Such Ways As May Be Thought Fit;ii) The Advancement Of Education, Training Or Retraining; Andiii) The Provision Of Housing For Those Who Are In Conditions Of Need And The Improvement Of Housing In The Publc Sector Or In Charitable Ownership Provided That Such Power Shall Not Be Extended To Relieving Any Local Authorities Or Other Bodies Of A Statutory Duty To Provide Or Improve Housing.
