RT said that costs of utilities will be increasing this year.
John said we could look for sponsorship for the unit.
The treasurer’s report was proposed to the meeting and
was accepted by all present.
3 Chairman’s Report
The Chairman was not present but had sent a report. DT
read this out to the meeting.
Highlights of the report:
It had been a difficult year with The Nest closed for almost
7months. Whilst this had a financial impact, it had an impact
on members lives. It was a devastating time for members
who were unable to meet family and friends or meet with
others at The Squirrels Nest – Some felt very lonely. KB set
up a WhatsApp group to keep everyone InTouch and those
that didn’t have a mobile phone were contacted by KB on
the phone. Thanks were given to KB.
We lost one of our original members, Ron, who sadly died.
Mandy Thomas had made a short film with the BBC that
had been shown on BBC2 in March. Thanks to Mandy for
doing this and promoting the Squirrels Nest.
It was great to see Don’t, Marc and Elwyn return to the nest
after illnesses.
Thanks to Robert T who helped with grants and looking
after the books.
Thanks to everyone for helping no matter how big or small,
to keep the Squirrels Nest going.
John passed on thanks to DT, RT, and KB for all they do.
The members have a strong desire to keep the Nest open
and thriving.
