A community project dedicated to
promoting sea rowing as a form of healthy
recreation whether socially, for fitness or to
race in regattas. Swanage Sea Rowing
Club makes facilities, equipment and
access to training by qualified coaches and
coxes accessible to the community by
regular (weekly) sea rowing and land-
based rowing machine sessions foe
members and members of the public
throughout the year. Our coxes have
nationally recognised qualifications and
ensure the safety at sea of all who
participate as have our coaches, who give
instruction and training at an appropriate
level for the ability of the rower
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The Trustees have regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity Commission on
public benefit and ensure that the facilities
provided are available to the community by
operating an open membership policy and
open access to facilities for members of the
public through open rowing sessions. The
beneficiaries are residents of Swanage and
the surrounding area aged 10 or over
(there is no upper age limit). By providing
facilities for open rowing the Club gives the
community access to a sport the promotes
physical health and fitness and mental
well-being.

volunteers

in addition to a team of Trustees. The
volunteers undertake a wide range of

Achievements and Performance

Para 1.20 This year saw the welcome return of racing
with the Intra-club event, a mini regatta,
and the Super Vets Regatta which we are
proud to say has been accepted onto the
CPGA event calendar.
We continued to develop the membership
using external trainers and coaching skills
training for members.
There has been some extremely hard work
put in to get the juniors back rowing. The
mental and health benefits have been clear
to see. Our aim is to compete at the u16’s
champs in Newquay and to take a crew to
Rame.
We have invested in improving our
equipment across the board with the
refurbishment of Peveril, painting of
Winspit, new radios, safety boxes,
cushions and the women’s oars are on
their way. We have also implemented a
rolling replacement plan for our Ergs and
fundraising for the purchase of additional
weight training equipment.
Membership Fees: We have decided to
reduce the student fee to encourage the
younger generations into rowing.

Notes:

SSRC owns 5 Gigs (3 wooden & 2 plastic) however 2 gigs were funded externally and if sold in one case the proceeds would need to be returned and in the other use of the proceeds is restricted.

4 Donations include any surplus or deficit arising from money collected relating to rowing events occuring away from Swanage. Such events are attended by members of Swanage Sea Rowing Club and members pay to take part. Overall the objective is that this activity is break-even.
