Trustees who have held office during the year are listed on page 1. The Articles of Association provide for a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve Trustees. Operating polic￿ are independently delermined by the Iruslee board of Directors in order to fulfil its charitable objects arAI comply with the national membership requirements. The Chief Executive of the organisatit)n has been appointed by Ihe Truslees to manage the day-to4ay operations of thg charity. In addition, Ihere is an experienced team of paid stsff and volunteers who are key to the setvice offered by the charity. Decisions are made by the trustee board in line with the Business Development plan and are revievrtl at leasl annually. The Senw Management Team ISMT) meet to review progress against targets and the Charity's financial posiiion aThJ to discuss issues referred lo them by the trustee board. Reports and recommendations are then laken to the full board for approval. and their implementation is organised by the Chief Executive and the staff team. There are regular staff. volunteer ￿￿etIngS and SMT meelings which ensure that progress is being made against targets. The charity's SMT are all paid in accordance wrth a published scale of grades used in the voluntary sector. Any inereases to these published grades are approved by the tiustee board. The chief executive's salary is reviewed and approved by the trustee board separately bul in line with the policy sel out ab¢)ve. Securing funding remains a serious challenge to maintain arKI to expand our service. We understsnd that the next few years are crttseal for us in terms of our sustainabilty and ultimately our long-terni survival., the Trustees are taking this risk very sertously and are responding accordingly. The funding clirnate is not getting any easier, nor do we expecl it to improve any time soon. Throughout the year we have continued to offer Advice and InformatKin in the foll¢)wing ways Face to faee drop in and Outreach have both been SUSFended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however face to face advice was offered to a small number of clients who needed this apporach. Adviser services have transitioned lo telephone. email and webchat with no loss of client numb8rs Advice Line- participation is continuing as part of a nat￿nal telephone pilot scheme. The line is covered on a rola basis between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm from Monday to Friday. Outside of Ihese times there is an aLrtomaled advice service 24 houts a day. Full advice -General and specialist telephone advice through cMJr team of trained advisers and paid staff. including the Universal Credil Help to Claim telephone line. A dedicated mbile app also allows clients to request a call back. Information and Sew Help. Th8 Ser￿ generated a total of £8.850.371 (2020121: £7,599,058} in additional income for its clients. Clients continue to present with multiple problems and on average ctients are presents'ng with 4 issues each. On average dients are presenlir4J 3 ts.mes each before their issues are resolved. Factors Affeetlng Ihe Achlevement of Objectlves Maintaining sufficient funding to continue delivering the service remains a continual challenge. we are making sure that we invest in fundraising and continue to diversrfy our approach to ensure we are delivering the most cost-effective seTViC8 we possibly can. This isn't about simpty eutting eosts: it is about delivering a service that genuinely meets clients. needs to make us as cosl effective as possible. The complexity of the issues that cl￿nts are facing. and the additional challenges that clients a￿ experiencing. places additional demantls on Ihe seNice. The support nelworks that were previously in place for people are changing and we are asked to offer support that falls outside the ￿rnIt of direct advice. Where people are vulnerable, it is essential that we offer support in a person-centred way and whilst necessary this can be resource intensive. FINANCIAL REVIEW The availability of funding in the charity sector ￿MaInS diffiujll in a period of austerity. The charity is focused on providing added value to its funders frorn a base of sound financial management arKI ensuring that our services remain relevant to Ihe strategic objectives of stakehoklevs at kncal and national level.
