Aims and Purposes Beechwood Chapel exisls to bring people to faith in Jesus and show His love by serving each other and the wider community of Beechwo(xl by meeting spiritual. pastoral and social needs. The chapel is also responsible for the maintenance of the ￿lIdIng 'Beethwood Chapel, which is located on Fifth Avenue, Beechwood, CH43 9LB. Objectives and ATMS Beechwood Chapel is committed to enabling and encouraging as many people from Beechwood and from further afield lo worship together at the Chapel and become part of the Chapel's active community. When planning our activities for tho year. we have considered the Commission's guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the supplementsry guidance on ¢haritses for the advancement of religion. In particulaf, we try lo enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our community through.. Worship and prayer,. leaffting about the (a>spel.' and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus. Provision of pastoral care for people living in the parish. . Missionary and outreach wo￿. To facilitate this work it is important that we maintain the fabric of the ChaFd building. Government The policy and operating decisions of the charity rest with the TTuslees who meet regularty to monitor the activities of the Trust. New Iruslees are appointed by the Trustees. Achievements and Porfonnance Through0￿1 the year the Chapel has provid&Y a range of opportunib.es for members and the community to worship and lellowship together. Ministrtes Clearly the whole tirnetable of the chapel ministries has changed in their nature due lo l(thdown restrictions throughout the year. Up until mid-march, some ministries were able to conb.nue as nom381. Ftorn mid-Ma￿h onwards we have had lo adapt lo the restrith'ons accordingly. P￿-COvid, the ministrie5 Qf Sunday morning meeting. Café Church. Kids Club. Fit for Life {balan￿ class and Bible Study). Life Groups, Chapel Tea, Prayer ￿￿tr"ngs, Tols and Mini lth.ds all carried on as nonnal. During the inib.al lockdown we were able to make sure all the church members who had access to the internet were able to join in with Zoom meetings vthich allowed mid-week prayer meeb.ngs and Lifegroups lo cary on. The Sunday moming meetsngs moved onto YouTube as a prerecorded playlist of songs, sermons, prayers and other rn￿ting elements, wth various members being involved with leading those. After those had been watched we were able to gather on Z(K)m ft)r a b.me of encouragement and conversation. Page 2

BEECHWOOD CHAPEL REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2020 When the building was allowed to te open in July, a risk assessment was followed lo allow us to meet in a covid safe way. This continued for the rest of the year apart from the November lockdown when we were again unable to meet in person due to Govemment Covid-19 restrictions. While the chapel building has been open on a Sunday. the mini kids group has continued to nbn. in a covid safe way. coinciding with when schools have been open or closed. Unfortunately due to I￿kdOWn restrtctions, fit for lrfe. café church, chapel tea, the tots group and kids club could not happen from mid-march. Al Christmas there was a nativity trail set up around the estate which kids club children were invited to join in with. Personal contacts were maintained some families who have had contact with the chapel through these ministries. Help was offered during Ihe nabonal lockdown in the form of leafiets, cards and pelsonal contaets to those on the estate who needed practical help- shopping, conversation, prayer. The YouTube and Zoom meetr'ngs were advertised using swal media plafforms. Christmas was an opportunity to do a few more videos that ￿tre shared on social media platfomis. These involved people from the chapel sharing their favourite carols and the band from chapel performing these carols. During the summer we were able to do a mini Love Beechwcth week. This involved practically serwng the estate by Picking litter, clearing weeds and sweeping paths. Cathy, our community worf(er has been MO￿ limrted due to having to isolate wrth her family. She has continued to keep relationships from a distance and serve many on the estate Mth food drop offs, doorstep conversations and phone calls. She has been able to carry on attending her various cornmunity committee meetings via zoom. Leadershi During 2020, Steve Bedford. whilst remaining as an elder and trustee. had lo step back somewhat from his resFM)nsibilities due to health problems. As 2 valuéd chur¢h member he is still able to offer his advice and experience when necessary. Pastoral Care The eldership have spent regular one-tc￿ne lime with a number of the Church membefship or those known to the membership who are interested in Christianty. This has often had lo be online or on doorsteps, due to covid. Worfd Mission The church has regulaTly donated to mission acbvitr.es in India and Fiji through partners Benji and Gill and lo Romania through donations to 'Grfts for Romania,. We have been able to speak to Benji and Gill on Zoom, as they joined one of our weekly meetings for encouragement and prayer. Additionally we have supported the mission organisation Echoes of Service and donated lo support the general work of Wirral Youth for Christ. We have continued lo supwrt JH who is a missionary in Northem Afrira- in fact we have slightly increased the amount we give to him. Due the global pandemic, their ministries have had lo adapt and we have kept up to dale wth this. We r￿1ve written updates from these individuals and organisalions which inform us of the work they are undertaking the monetary gifts given. We are sabsfied that each individuavorganisation has a safeguarding ￿lIcY in pl￿ an(J un¢Jertakes annual training for its workers. Page 3

At the end of 2020 we held just under twice this amount in unrestricted funds It is part of the upcoming year that we plan lo use some of these reserves to pay part time members of staff. starting in May 2021. They will be Ministry Trainees. COVID-19 In Ma￿￿ 2020 the charity look steps lin line with govemment advice) to help rKfyntain the outbreak of COVID. 19 as sel out in this Report The trustees are monitoring income and expenditure and, if it becomes necEss8ry, will take measures to mitigate the impact ol COVID-19 on the charity's free reserves. Tru8tees' Respon¥ibilitie8 Charity law requires us as Trustees to prepare financial ststements for each accounting year which record the r￿ipts and payments of the charity for the year. We are responsible for keeping proper *counting records which disclose wth reasonable accuracy at any lime the financial position of the charity and enable us to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. We also have a responsibility to safeguard the assets of the ¢harity and to take reasonable steps to prevent fraud or any other irregularities.
