Structure Governance and Mana ement Th8 charity is a Charitabl8 Incorporated Organisab"on ICIOI which is gov8m8d by irs constituts.on gisted with the Chanty Commi$$ion on 21st October, 2013 The CIO advertises for new trustees through Support staffordshire. faceb)ok and on its website. The role of Iruslee is open lo everyone over the age of 16 years old who has the purpose lo bring enthusiasm and expertise lo the board and would be most likety to further the purposes of the CIO. At each Annual General Meeting the Iruslees are required lo stsnd down from their role and Gan be re- appointed by membership vote rf they wish to stand for another tsm. New charity trustees receive a copy of the constibjtion and any amendments made to f( abjng with a copy of the chanty'$ latest trustee's annual report and statement of accounts. The board of trustees, which shall be a minimum of three wth a maximum ol tsvelve, administers the CIO whilst the members have voknng rights on decisions that arise through the tjoard. Membership of the CIO is open lo anyone who is interested in furthering iys purposes. All policies are reviewed on a regular basis. and new ones drawn up rf necessary. Ob ectives and Activities The object of the CIO is to develop the Capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economicalty disadvantsged communty of Slaffordshire. and in partKular Lichfield, Buthood and Canno¢k in such a way that they are better able lo identsfy and help meet their needs and to participat• morn fulty in soci•ty. W• sp•cffaIty takè OA adult* with lèaming di&abilitlèB. The main activth8s that lake place are leaming gardening skilL8. wcodwork skills. machine maintenance skills and Independent INing skilts, which incorporates cooking skills. Sorne of these activities then benefit the wider public by offering a local venue to purchase plants, VetableS. and handmade woodwork pro(luct$ at a low price. The trustees have paid regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and what activities the charity $houhJ undertake. All the support members at COGS Prepares 4 Life CIO are permanent volunteers that are seconded from Cherry Orchard Garden Services CIC and work tifelessly with the seNice users lo ensure activitr'es are varied, educational and help fomard their needs. We also have temporary volunteers who have adapted very well to the environment and have helped bolster the support we can give to the service users. Achievements and Perforniance This year was a totally drfferenl experience from l&t year as the effects of COVID-1g StrI.0nS started to ease, and normalty started tr) finally arrive. The new ¢u$tomers that found u8 in tho lockdown periods have all retumed to purchase the goods that our service users have made or grown and been presented on our market stsll. Throughout the year various projects were fvnded and equipment bought around the site including funding for new electric lawnmowers and stn"mmers. brand new cookn.ng equiptment and while goods for the Grow-Cook-Eal programme along with new coldframes and stainless steel tables for the greenhouse. We were especially excited to receive funding ft)r a brand new greenhouse and base which tS replaced the old greenhouse that was donated to us in 2013 The new greenhouse is much more energy efficient and has much rTh)re room in$e for the service users to learn and expand their skills. New laptops were also fvnded as part of a new education scheme aimed al teaching the service users basic English, Maths and IT skills and has been widety welcomed by btsth the service users and their parentslcarers due to the fact that the courses are spectfic to each Individual, not a Set ¢Uffi¢ulum. All the service users have continued to refresh their skilts throughout the yèar lo ensure they can contrnue to use th8se transferable skills outside of the chatity. Section E - Flnancial Review The Charity has aayS aimed to hold a reserye of 3 months expendrture in unrestricted funds which would allow it to continue current 8ctivibes while considerab.on is given lo ways In which additional funds could be raised.
