During this reporting
period the full impact ofthe Covid 19
pandemic
struck us. The amount
ofpeople being referred
to us escalated
beyond
all expectation.
This situation was
exacerbated
by the fact that sourcing food became an
almost impossible task as the public panic bought
in
supermarkets,
made supermarket
delivery slots
unattainable
and the supermarkets
unwilling
to assist to
provide food in the quantities
that were now needed. This
was particularly
frustrating
as the funds to purchase
were
available,
but supplies
offood were not. We were
fortunate
that our good relationship
with other
organisations,
such as the Salvation
Army and wholesale
food companies,
meant that we were able to work
together to address this concerning
issue.
The London Borough ofWaltham
Forest were able to
benefit from our expertise to assist with the increased
demand
placed on them to provide emergency
food aid.
