The Woodlawns Centre provides older peoF4e a range of high waltty semces and activities that promote their independence. Improve their health and well-being. value their diversity and help make later h'fe an enjoyable, fvlfilling and more rewarding expersence. Streatham had a strong community focus for much of the 201h cen￿ry bth a significant part of that began to thsappear in the earfy 1990's for a Trumber of locally-based reasons. Due to its long hist￿￿ in Ihe community and its status as a Communty Hub. The Woodlawns Centre is perfecdy placed and plays a major part in community life and cohesion for local people and the wder Streatham and Lambeth communities. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE H8ving reopened Ihe Centre's door5 (folloNMng restrictions due to the Ccrfonavirus ICovid-191 pandemic and restri¢titsn$ under thè Coronawrus Act 2020 and subsequent variations to it) in late 2021 for hiring and early 2022 for members, the Board of Trustees of The Woodlawns Centre have now been aEAe to ensure that regular inC￿ne was finalty restored in 2022123 to its normal levels throughout the year for the first time since 2018119. Our services for oldeT people and the operation of the Charity are fijnded by letttng5 1 rental of Oie premisès. Whilst some of these lettings are purely acti￿tr"e$ for generab.ng fitrnds, others go toNYard5 meets'ng our objectNes. At the end of the period of this report. there were no offices vacant. We are still working towards the completion of (xjr renovation plans, which will allow The Woodla￿$ Centre to provide a flexible and fit-for-purpose space for a varièty of community meetings and events, as well as a unique venue in the local area for private function5 including weddings. We have continued refurbishments io the main house induding redecorabng and new carpeb.ng and these W(￿kS are still ong(4ng. We are still affected by the Gontinuing impact of the Cor￿a￿￿lS ICovid-19) pandemic bui V+E are still keeping Charges to members for attending their dub as low as possible. We continue to prowde membership at a fee of £12 per annum, addftional fees charged for actiwties and refreshments. We continue to lun a number of classes includlng seated exerrase. line dancing, games. quiz. day trips, Tai Chi, and our lunch club. These acb"vibe5 have proven to produce signifficant improvements in the heath and well-being of older peo1￿e. We have seen emdence of improvements in the older people use our seN¢es and have also received positive feedback on the pos11ive consequent impact on both their ovffl family members and support ne￿rkS as well as the ￿der communtty. Existing day to day seNices are being consistendy reviewed and new services added vthere fvnding Èllows. We will also work with partr)eTS lo provide activib'es in our premises that benefft thjr members. RELATED PARTIES In 2004, the opeialions of the Charity were transferred from Streatham Darby and Joan Ckjb. a registered ¢hartty number 254702. The lease of the building used by the Charity to provide its seNices remains the propety of the original Charity. All olher assets and liabilitres were transferred in 2004. Strealham Darby and Joan Club Limited undertook the work previously carried out by the old Charity until this in tum was transferred to the Chaiity known as The Woodla￿$ Centre in 2014. A decision was laken al the 2018 Annual General Meebng to dissolve the strÈ8tham Darby and Joan aub Limited Charity Inuwnber 11062741 and this work 1$ in progress. This wll leave the original Charity - Streatham Darby and Joan Club Inumlxf 2547021- and Ihis Charty- The Woodlawns Centre (numbei 11541541 as the only two still operats"onal. SW16 2PJ, was acquired by the London Borough of Lambeth in 1968.. the premises We￿ leased to Streatham Darby and Joan Club (Ihe c4d Charttyl for a term of fifty years at an annual rent of £1. In September 2008, a new 99-year lease was agreed betsveen the London Borough of Lambeth and the Streatham Darby & Joan Club. Some administrative errors were belate(ly discovered on the new lease bthich have been amended through a Deed of Variation agreed by the Lonth)n Borough of Lambeth and registered the Land Registy in 2021.
