R•vlow of tho charlty's flnanclal posltlon at the ond of the p•rfod York Foodbank continues to benefit from generous public. corporate and church giving in 2023-24. Most areas of giving reduced signfficantly, as was anticipated, in comparison with the increase in giving witnessed in 2022-23. York Foodbank's income and expenditure aligned extremely dosely wlth our budget whlch, as 202&24 drew to a condusion would hav8 resulted in a £5,500 surplus. At the point of setting our 2024-25 budget, York Foodbank Trustees elected to make grant aV￿rdS £50,000 In excess of our 2023-24 budget. Thls resulted in 8 deficit of £36,760 for the financial year. In addition to our unrestricted dosing balance, York Foodbank held 15.796kg of food stocks of £43,755 estimated value (based on a standard Trussell conversion value of £2.771kg). If 202>24 financial giving r8malns at the same level thls Is projected to align dosely to present running costs. Statement explalnlng th• pollcy for holdlng r•s•rv•• Statlng why th•y ar• h•ld The trustees of York Foodbank had prevlously set an alm to have at least 3 months runnlng costs in reserve. This total 18 currently 881imated to be £210,000 making allowance8 for: advice services.. inflation: incre888d energy costs and recent increases in Foodbank referrals,. An additional £60,940, estlmated to be sufficient to purchase 22,OOOkg of 8m8rg8ncy non-p8rlsh8bl8 food, may ba ret81ned and rlng-fenced to safeguard core food stockg In tha event of reduced food donatlons or a further unantlcipated Sncrea8e In need.
