Treasurer’s Summary

The accounts for 2021/22 show a deficit for the year however, the District remains in a healthy financial position. The deficit arising is largely due to timing differences arising on the receipt and payment of prior year membership fees. On 5[th] April 2022 the District had available funds of £46,502.43.
A budget has been prepared for the 2022/23 financial year to allow better management and tracking of spending within the District.
Specific funds have been ringfenced towards individual projects such as the development and ongoing maintenance of the District campsite (Cooper Lane), and for financial support for the members of the District due to attend the World Scout Jamboree in 2023.
The accounts have been independently checked and examined by P J Weeks, County Treasurer and Trustee for Norfolk Scouts.
A breakdown of the movements and balances on each individual account can be found on pages 3 – 7.

Treasurer’s Notes – District Account

2019/20 & 2020/21 Membership Fees
Amounts received of £11,670.00 includes:
- £4,400.00 for 2020/21 that was unpaid at 05/04/2021
- £7,270.00 transferred from the Explorers account for the previous 2 years
2021/22 Membership Fees
All amounts were received from groups within the District by 05/04/2022 and the full amount owed had been paid over to County.
Grants received is made up of two grants given to the District towards the development work at the Cooper Lane campsite. These funds have been ringfenced.

£5,000 from the Ellam Legacy Fund
Restricted Funds
Cooper Lane – the Cooper Lane account balance was transferred into the District account during the year and all monies received are now paid into the District account. These funds are marked as restricted for the maintenance of the site and the ongoing development work taking place.
World Scout Jamboree – the District decided to provide financial support to its members who are due to attend the World Scout Jamboree in 2023. This includes 23 young people and 4 Leaders. A total of £6,600 was ringfenced - £200 per young person and £500 per Leader - and was paid to the participants in the 2022/23 year.

Treasurer’s Notes – Explorer Account

Membership Fees
The Explorer membership fees for 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 were all transferred to the District account during the year as the transfers had not taken place in previous years. The amounts transferred were £3,420, £3,850 and £5,253 respectively.
A breakdown of the closing funds on 5 April 2022 can be found on page 8. This shows a summary split of the funds between the various Explorer Units within the District.
