OBJECTIVES AND AcfiviTIES Objeetlve Our objective as set out in our 8overning document is 'The promotion of Community Participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitams of Grantham, and elsewhere as the directors may decide, in particular the provision of facilities for playing tennis". The Club continues to offer discounted memberships for players on low income and with a disability. Parents I carers of players wlth a dispbility can also play for free with the member. Parents of minl members (IO&U) also do not have to be a member to come and play with their children. The club continues io recognise all modem understanding of 'family'. People do not have to be members of the club to tske part in activities or just play al the club. Learning disability - Sessions for junior4 YOU￿ adults and adults and a perfoTm8nce disability session for those players that enter com￿lti0nS and are tying ftr a place in the Special Olympic tegm. Wh¢¢lchair- Saturday sessions for all ages and abilities. Dlsbllity C¢mpetitions Learning Disability Regional Tournament - This weekend comwition has b¢come one of the highlights of th¢ LD tournaments C￿endar. The number of entries I￿reased again 10 45 players in different ￿ded events. For this y¢ors social the Club 0￿￿lS&j bingo. most players and f8mily attended. Many volunteers from the club gave their lime to help the comwitors to stsnd in the correct place to serye and retum and score. Volwit¢ers weye wovided with refreshments and lunch fer which the club used CC Volunl¢¢r funding. Wheelchair National Tournament- 25 pkyer5 entered in the differing c4tegories. The novice evenl attrncting many player5 from Grantham. Special Olympi¢s The club welcomes the Special Olympics East Midlands squad for their monthly training sessions. Two of Grantham's coaching team work with the players. P*rkin8on$ Growp The LTA became National Parthers with Parkinsons UK and the club contacted the Ii)rAI Parkinsons Group and sa up 2 Taster sessions that attrdcted 35 participwnts. The coa¢hin8 team attended an LTA CPD ￿urse to help with the session design which wa5 mainly arouTrA seated ￿SkS. S¢hooig College The Club continues to work closely with Grnitham College with a Mixtu￿ of se&sion5 at the club and at the college.

One of the coaching team ran the Travid RO￿ FAlucational Tr￿st Schools Tennis event at the local leisure centre and the club continues lo offer its f￿1]ity for l(Kal se￿￿K{ary schools to play their tennis matches in the National Sch￿)1 leagu¢& The festiv￿. rather than a wmFrtit1o￿ w&$ chosen for years 3&4 and forused on fun and personal challenges and w&% aimed at quieter children who had not played tennis previously and lack ¢onfid¢nce anwor social skills. T&kets and balls on a Sunday aftemwn in the exam Feriod. Positive Futures The club worked with the "Positive Future5" prowme whi¢h offers free coaching at the lo¢al leisure Centre (situated in the heart of the area in Grantham). Positive Futures is part funded by Lincolnshire County Council using 5POrt and physical activity to engage with young ￿Ople in deprived communities. WyDdbAm P4rk After year5 of wi>rktng together with sO￿h Kesteven District COU￿11 (SKE￿) and the LTA. the club were successful in being one of the fiT5t Park courts io receive national investhient by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation to refurbish two ¢ourts that were unplayable in Wyndham Park. The ¢lub recognised that park courts can reach different communili¢s who may never play at a tennis club even though GTC is wel¢orning to all. SKDC own the courts with GTC Iwjkling a le85e to manage tF* courts for the community. SKDC are ¢ontributing to the sinking fund for the first three y¢ars. The community coach will deliver a wo8rdmme that benefits the community. Four Astro Courts The four &stro courts were resurfaced U5Tng moftey saved in the designated sinking furbl. The surface is still a favorite of lh¢ membership to its soft surfxe and can be played on all year round even in the rain. As part of an LTA pilot scheme GTC was one of 23 clubs to have a Young Persons Welfare Ambassador. Reserve$ held at 31st December 2023 ar¢ £3,432,779 (2022: £3.439.144) The Irustees are aware thai part of running a charity involves lookin8 after the assets and understand that a well-run facility must ensure Ihat an appropriate level of finance is allocated to m8intsinin8 the facilili¢s. Quality facilities relain members and attract new ones. A sinking fund has been set up as a part of the LTA funding requirements wilh monies set 8side for the future maintenance of the existin8 lennis facilitles.
