In planning our activities for the year 2020-21, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings.

“Children are happy and make good progress. Children demonstrate the necessary skills and emotional well-being for their future learning. They develop confidence and resilience to try out new ideas, concentrate well and explore with enthusiasm”. Ofsted Inspection Report November 2015

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

This was a very challenging year for the pre-school. We spent the first part of the year in bubbles within the pre-school. We were unable to provide the full wrap around care for the primary school pupils due to not being able to mix bubbles. This greatly impacted on our income and families struggled to cope without the care

Due to the struggle faced by some families ran our food larder from September through to January and we also put together 60 food hampers at Christmas 2020 which we distributed to families in our local community. We did the same at Easter in 2021, the local secondary school helped to deliver them to families.

Our baby / toddler group was unable to open during this time. We followed all COVID guidelines and ensured that the COVID risk assessment was closely adhered to.

We were unable to run our sports day, Nativity events, zoo trip or have parents into the setting.

In July 2021, 29 children moved from Pre-school into a Reception class. The pre-school employs 9 permanent members of staff, all of whom are dedicated to upholding our mission, we also employ a part time caretaker. As last year, due to the restrictions of the COVID pandemic, all of our usual activities were cancelled. Our leavers trip to the zoo was cancelled as was our end of term presentation, sports day and all fund-raising activities. Baby/toddler group was cancelled for the duration of the year Wrap around care After school and Breakfast club were available at intervals during the year, depending on COVID cases in Our Lady of the Angels and restrictions at the time. This has been another difficult year

We lost a lot of our private income from the closure of our breakfast and after school clubs However, despite everything we were able to ensure a profit.

Our main source of funds this year came from childcare fees, funded either by the government or parents/carers.

Future plans

Our aim is to continue to provide high quality care and education for children from 2 to 11 years.
