The charlty delivered a reduction in fin3ncial reserves following increasing delivery costs and reduced sponsorship income and lower nomination numbers amid a challenging economic climate. Extra effort is beingtaken to improve sponsorship uptake for2025 and to boost revenue throuEh increased ticket prices for 2025 leveraging on the strong reputation that the Awards has built up over the years.

Main achlevements of the company The main accompllshments for thls financial year were the delivery of an outstandinE event which made social workers and soclal work teams feel valued and recoEnlsed and provided a platform for them to share their best practlce. Following the success last year, the charity continued to diversify the volces of the independent Judglng panel by Includlng young people with lived experlence. Followlngfeedback from soclal workersandTrustees,the charlty introducedtwo newcategorles for2024: Technology-Enabled Lives & Innovatlon in Practice; and Practitioner-Led Research Award The British Assoclatlon of Social Workers IBASWI were headline sponsor thSs year, The charity also continued to run the 'Thank You, sponsorship tler which allowed an entry polnt to sponsorshlp and the Awards. Thls year the Minister for Chlldren and Famllles, Janet Daby MP attended the Awards and spoke, whlch received great reactlons from guests. In recognltion of the challenglng flnanclal cllmate, the charlty malntained the offer to all flnallsts for a f Ifty percent discount on the general admlsslon tlcket prlce, desplte rlslng suppller costs. This saw an Increase In tlcket sa les and an increase In larger group bookln85, between 8-11 people from the same organisatlon, compared to prevlous years. The charity 8enerated 46 Stems of posStlve regional, natlonal and care sector medla coverage for the Awards overall and stories of Its wlnners, whlch malntalned publlc Interest for several months afterwards. b. Key performance Indlcators The charlty's core work Is to deliver on the charltable objectlves usln8 the mechanlsm of the Soclal Worker of the Year Awards. The Trustees conslder the key performance Indlcators to be: Financlal Income from sponsorshlp and number of sponsors: The charity generated £116,300 Income from 10 sponsors includlng introduclng a Public Sector Sponsor (West Sussex County Council}. This was a fifty per centre reductlon In the number of sponsors from 2023, with local authorities citing f inancial crisls and wider economic issues as the main reason for not sponsoring this year. While ticket sales had Increased, the lack of sponsorship meant the charity had to use reserve funds for the 2024 event, which would not be an option for 2025. Despite efforts to diversify sources of sponsorship and an intense period of actlvity focused on sponsorship, there were seven categories not sponsored lat £9,950 each} for 2024.

The flnancial future of the Awards was dlscussed at len8th during the Trustees, annual Away Day, where robust actions were agreed to save costs and increase income overall. Thls Included a change of venue from London to Manchester as a cost-savlng alternative. The success of the event In terms of attendance and audlence feedback. The event was well attended by 430 people, an Increase on 2023. In a post-event survey, 99 per cent of attendees rated the Awards 8ood/very good/excellent. Medla coverage and soclal medla engagement achleved. Media coverage reached 9,200,000 people, wlth 46 published artlcles and soclal media achieved 336,143 Impressions through organlc posts on the Awards, Twltterlx and Linkedln account5. A dlverse and enga8ed Judglng panel, Includln8 volces wlth Ilved experlence, from across the country. The ludglng panel was comprlsed of 42 people and was made up of leadlng Industry professionals withln the social work profession, previou5 Social Work Award wlnners and those with Ilved experience of soclal work. The charity has been able to facllltate medla Interviews for several of the gold winners which helps to raise the positive profile of social work. The number of articles generated has increased year-on-year and is testament to a detailed and personal approach from the PR agency who takes pride In supporting the charity. A well-attended parliamentary reception with representatives and guests from both sides of the house, gave further recognition and positive promotion of the profession.
