Objectives and Activities
The objectives of FPWR UK are to advance the education of the public in general (and particularly amongst scientists) on the subject of Prader-Willi Syndrome and to promote research for the public benefit in all aspects of that subject and to publish the useful results.

All events were organised to raise funds and awareness to support PWS research. Trustees carefully considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit while setting objectives and planning activities.
Achievements and Performance
During the financial year 2023-2024, FPWR UK contributed £65,000 towards three key research projects :

Dr. Tollervey (University of Edinburgh) – £25,000 contributed towards research on noncoding RNAs in neuronal differentiation and PWS (Year 2). The total project cost was $159,347 .

Dr. Evans (Bucknell University) – £25,000 contributed towards a study examining obsessivecompulsive and psychotic-like behaviours across PWS subtypes . The total project cost was $72,984 .

Rachel Gilmore (Post-Doctoral Fellowship) – £15,000 contributed towards a three-year research fellowship studying methods to test for MAGEL2 gene activity in cells , in collaboration with Dr. Schaff in Heidelberg .
Financial Review
FPWR UK maintains a minimum reserve of £3,000 to cover approximately three months of essential operating costs , including staff wages and storage facility expenses. This reserve ensures the charity can continue to function effectively in the event of unexpected income shortfalls or delays. The reserve requirement is reviewed annually to reflect the charity’s financial commitments and operational needs.
FPWR UK confirms that no funds are in material deficit.

FOUNDATION FOR PRADER-WILLI RESEARCH UNITED KINGDOM INDEPENDENT REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR TO 30 JUNE 2024
I have been requested to report on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 30 June 2024.
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
As the Charities trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts: you consider that the audit requirements of section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the ACT) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)9b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiners Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts
Independent Examiners Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1 which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act: and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act
have not been met: or
2 to which in my opinion, should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts reached.
